Original Tom Petty Works, 2008-06-17 For those who love Tom Petty, this is the opportunity to hear him at his original best! It is a little more on the "country" side type of music rather than Tom's good old rock and roll but it is a refreshing change and worth the investment.

Tom Petty at his best, 2008-06-16 This is a fantastic album and hopefully not the last we hear from Mudcrutch. Not any duds here, just inspired lyrics and powerful instrumentals the whole way through. "Scare Easy" and "The Wrong Thing to Do" are clear highlights, but all were toe-tappers and showcases of the talent of these musicians. A treat to hear Tom Leadon take the lead for "Queen of the Go Go Girls" and Benmont Tench's "This Is a Good Street," though Petty is still deservedly the bread and butter vocalist here. Thoroughly enjoyed every song here and the inspiration clearly comes through!

Mudcrutch impresses long time Petty fan...., 2008-06-14 Being a fan of Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers has been part of my musical tastes for 30+ years. That in itself peaked my curiousity regarding the release of the Mudcrutch CD. With Petty and Heartbreakers Benmont Tench and Mike Campbell as part of Mudcrutch, I was pretty confident that this would be a quality release. The other members of Mudcrutch include Randall Marsh on drums and Tom Leadon on guitar/vocals. Leadon is the brother of multi instumentalist Bernie Leadon who was on the early Eagles albums. Petty sings lead and gets writing credits for most of the original music, but Tench and Leadon do contribute songs with lead vocals, too. I think the quality of the playing on this album is outstanding. It has a 70s country rock feel from when this genre of music was at its most popular. The influence of the Byrds is evident here as it is on other songs written by Petty for his work with the Heartbreakers or solo. Fans of Tom Petty and country rock music in general should find listening to Mudcrutch an enjoyable experience as I did.
Rare and outstanding music, 2008-06-14 Mr. Petty is always great and this album is no exception. The added attractions of among the best keyboard and guitar players of past 30 years only make this CD more delightful to listen to.
Tom Petty Time Travel, 2008-06-13 This CD is an instant classic. Jump in Mr Peabody's Wayback Machine and travel back to 1975 in Gainesville Florida to see the embyro of what later became Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers. The 3 that made it big, recombine with the two left behind (by decisons of the record industry) and record the great tunes of that era. Instant classic fits and TP fans will fall imediately in love with this CD. TP & Heartbreakers never do a long jam - but Crystal River (my favorite) goes about 10 minutes. Since I live in SF, was lucky to see Mudcrutch live at the Fillmore. The CD is next best thing. While listening - imagine Tom and intire band with great big smiles on their faces the entire concert enjoying the sweet memories.
