Excellent purchase, 2008-10-09
My Samsung 52" LCD purchase from Amazon went perfectly. The TV was delivered right into my home, no hidden or extra charges,and works flawlessly. I did a lot of product reviews before making my purchase - and agree that the Samsung 650 is a great TV and a great value. Beautiful picture quality, easy to use - and is everything I hoped it to be. If ordering a product online, buy from a reputable company like Amazon since there are some disreputable sellers preying on unsuspecting consumers.

I got samsung 650 52 inch tv, about 3 weeks ago. The delivery by ceva was excellent and timely...within 5 days. The picture quality of hd and sd tv transmissions so far is average and not that impressive. The blacks are not as black but the colors are good. The motion blur is also minimal due to 120 hz refresh rate. The sound quality is subpar from the tv speakers.
The usb port on this tv does not support mpeg movies. For that you have to get 'wiselink pro' in 750 or 850 models, as I was told by samsung rep. That was a misinformation in amazon's site. The 'pip' function is totally useless and requires 'rocket sceince' extra cables connections. The 'pip' picture is analog and subpar and not worth wasting your time with difficult connections.
This tv does not have 'DLNA' and only higher models have them to recieve contents from your PC. I have comcast cable and very few channels have 1080i resolution. Most have 720p and 480i resolution. None of the channel are 1080p. You might be better off buying lower end lcd tv, 720p, to save money if your cable company does not support 1080p.
The plastic frame and stand gather dust easily and can get scratched on wiping if you are not careful. Also the frame reflects light badly as it is made of shiny plastic material. I had no problem with 'touch of red' color in the frame. There are tv function 'touch buttons' on the left side the frame but they are extremely hard to see. They do not light up on touch and I suppose only the later models have this facility.
The remote is subpar and for most of the common functions you have to go through menu and submenus. The wheel function on the remote is very touch sensitive and takes some practise to master.
The tv supposedly has QAM cable box internally but you still need external cable box to get most of the channels. I did not get this? That was a disappointment. The quality of the over the air hd channels was better on my old ctr tv then on this tv. So you have to fork out extra money to your cable company to get HD box. Also there is only one coaxial input jack at the back of the tv and you have to buy a switch and a splitter to change between the input sources... for over the air channels and cable tv.
Overall the tv is only 3 stars out of 5. But supposedly, this is the better option than the other brands of tv's at this price at this time....from 'consumer report' and public reviews. I think this tv is over rated. I would have gone for the samsung's 750 model but there were lot of complains about the frame bleeding color and breaking up. If price is not a factor then pioneer's plasma tvs, would be the best choice.
And by the way the amazon's customer service is excellent and I got prompt $99 refund on this tv as the price dropped. I would definately buy from amazon site again. But be careful and make sure that you only buy from amazon on this site as other vendors also sell tv's/items also on amazon and their retrun policy and shipping is not free.
Also don't forget to buys hdmi and svga cables at the same time of the TV purchase to connect dvd players and pc. Otherwise you will have to wait for their arrivals. They are extremely cheaply priced at amazon and you will save bundle as compared to retail stores. They are of excellent quality.

Look no further - SAMSUNG, 2008-10-09
I no longer bother looking at anything other than Samsung; the prices are reasonable (and usually best on Amazon) for an excellent state of the art product, their TVs are easy to set up and overall, terrific. This is my third Samsung and the largest I've bought: the quality of the picture in this size is different from anything I've previously had. Sports and news (debates, especially) are just live, live, live.

I am not "electronicly" learned but this is a great TV. Picture great. Sound good, Delivery service timely and excellent. one con the picture makes things and people look larger in full screen. I would definitely recommend this set.
Best LCD I've Seen, 2008-10-08
I bought the Samsung LN52A650 52-Inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV with Red Touch of Color. I've been watching it now for about two weeks and it is unbelievable. All the other reviews on this are right on the money. Watching football is like being there on the Field. With the right camera angle I can watch the QB's eyes from my Lazy Boy chair. I also got the Samsung BD-P1500 1080p Blu-ray Player, Cables To Go - 40315 - 2M (6.5ft) Velocity HDMI Digital Video Cable (Blue), Antennas Direct DB4 Multi Directional HDTV Antenna, Peerless SmartMount Universal Tilt Wall Mount ST660P - Mounting kit ( fasteners, bracket, tilt wall plate ) for flat panel - black - screen size: 37" - 60" - wall-mountable, and Tripp Lite A102-02M Digital Optical Audio Cable, 2x Toslink - 2M (6ft). Everything works great. Amazon is the Best! This was my first big purchase and I was a little scared but after reading all the reviews I did it. I saved over a $1000.00 by being patient and smart by using Amazon. Everything arrived in perfect condition in a little over a week. Like others here only one guy delivered the TV. He did un-box it for us.
The only thing I haven't figured out is the Touch of Color. Is this frame suppose to glow or light up? You can barley see it. All the pictures on the web show the frame as a dark red or even slightly glowing. Mine is there but you got to get right next to it to see the dark red top and bottom frame.
I'm also the only person left in America that doesn't have cable or a satellite. I'm using the Antenna mounted on my roof and I can pick up eight HD channels. All look great. So the tuner in this TV is good. The delivery guy said he has never been in a home that didn't have cable or satellite. I just laughed and thought to myself on how much money and time I save by not having them.
In closing this TV and all the stuff I bought are GREAT, you can't go wrong with Amazon.
