Fantastic Program!, 2008-07-31 The only reason I gave this 4 stars instead of 5 is that it's not terribly intuitive, and the instructions are difficult to understand. However, once I spent a couple of hours playing with it myself, it became quite easy to use. For a sample project, go here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-INOYUUFLAo. It took me an hour from start to finish (I already had the video clips). It even uploads to YouTube for you! Very cool. I used a camera with the capability to record video clips, and I converted an mp3 I bought off Amazon to a wma file. Free software available on the Internet allows you to do this. I am a novice, so others of you out there, go for it!

Easy enough to use, but so very tough to install, crashed my system, 2008-07-30 The fifth time was a charm (!) when I tried to install this software on my Windows XP based system. I have a relatively new system and so I did not anticipate all the problems I had in installing this software. I've used Adobe Premiere Elements 4 before and even Nero 8 Ultra Edition for some light movie editing and never had a problem with the install or in burning the final DVD. With Ulead VideoStudio I am stumped.
The first 3 times I tried to install it the installation simply froze in the middle and I had to shut down my system to get it to work again. The 4th time I was able to load the software and then it asked me to insert the bonus CD which comes with WinDVD - the CD authoring software - and extra audio, video clips. The moment WinDVD started to install on my system it tried to delete some files which caused a fatal system error and I got blue screened. I began again the next day, I installed the software again and did not put in the bonus CD as suggested.
The software is easy to work with, it can convert your DV tapes to digital media or you can edit your digital media. It's easy to drop in your video clips, drag in audio and use transitions. You may not able to use your computer for much else while editing unless you have a very powerful system. However, once you're done editing, it can be very frustrating to go through the authoring process.
My system keeps freezing repeatedly and it becomes really difficult to create a DVD from this software most times. I am not sure if the hassle is worth my time, even though the software interface is intuitive and easy to use. If I get the system freeze one more time while trying to make a DVD, I am going to uninstall the software.

I didn't like it!, 2008-07-30 I wouldn't recommend this program to anyone wishing to create a slideshow using standard ditital pictures. I was hoping for easy manipulation of picture order, viewing, sorting, transitions, pan & zoon, title and text creation - but what I got was a program that seemed geared toward modern cam corders and not the general picture user. I have the Ulead version 4 pictureshow program and I thought this would be better. I wish I didn't buy this program. I am now back to using the version 4, wishing I could find something with more versatility in regards to the aforementioned features and one that caters to the still picture taker.

Videostudio 11.5 is a MUST HAVE!, 2008-07-29 I have used Ulead VideoStudio since it was version 4.0. It is tremendous software which is user friendly, and great for the amateur or the semi-pro. The fact that I actually paid $$$ for this software speaks to how great it is. (I pre-date the Internet, and go back to the days of BBS's. We don't pay for anything). This is worth every penny.
Kudos to Amazon for this great software deal. VideoStudio 11.5 is a steal at $59! If you do any video-editing or want to learn, this software is a must. Digital videotapes degrade. Hard Drives fail. Your only option is to burn your videos onto a DVD. Trust me - this is the program you want.

Making Videos, 2008-07-28 The product works. You get no feedback from customer service. It is difficult to know if you are running the most up-to-date product. I purchased 11.5 from Amazon. Ulead/Corel keeps asking me if I want to upgrade to 11.5 and yes, they want money. So I'm still not sure what is going on. Still no answers from customer support.
If you want to import .mov files, make sure you already have quicktime on your computer.
