    ALL PURPOSE CAMCORDER, 2008-05-14
This is a good camcorder. Its size , price , quality of video are some of its key features. Its an excellent buy for students or recent grads and also for those who love to travel.I call it an all purpose camcorder because I can take it anywhere without any hassle and its a harddrive camcorder so no worries about tapes or cds.

    JVC MG330, 2008-05-04
I just bought a JVC MG330 and have to say that I am disappointed. Not in the video or picture quality, but in the downright feeble insistence on giving the video files a .mod extension, even though the clips are compatible with MPEG. The problem is that no video editor I have on file - and that are four - recognizes the extension. Nor do many of the Internet video delivery services. In other words I cannot edit the videos which I need for instructional purposes and have to buy a separate program that re-encodes the video, thereby losing quality. Despite its video quality, the camera is of no use to me. For anything in this world I cannot imagine why any manufacturer would limit its product artificially, a marketing decision that can only have been made by someone with an IQ of a ground worm.

    Easy to use., 2008-05-04
I'm not a techie, so this very easy camcorder is perfect for me. Turn on- point and shoot, takes great pictures. I need something that makes it easy or I won't use it.

    JVC Everio GZ-MG330, 2008-04-26
I bought this camera to upgrade from an AIPTEK MPVR. I wanted the optical zoom, the ability to record with the camera plugged in. Which the JVC Everio GZ-MG330 Does all those things and the ability to record in low light situations. However, the AIPTEK MPVR creates clearer video. The JVC Everio GZ-MG330 also seems to have a problem filming LEDs plugged into a wall outlet such as Christmas lights. The lights slowly turn on and off in the recording even if what you see is the lights being on constantly.

The JVC Everio GZ-MG330 has a slightly odd interface took me a while to get use to how everything works. Copying files from the hard disk to the microSD card is a bit convoluted but it does do it. Also the USB cable that comes with it is not standard. The 5 pin connector on the camera side has a special configuration and you can't use other 5 pin USB cables with the camera.

The camera works with linux. Ubuntu will auto mount the camera and the videos play correctly.

The battery is the 730mAh battery so 95 minutes is about what you get. The microSD slot takes microSD HC and standard microSD cards. The largest microSD card I tested in the camera was 4GB and the smallest was 1GB both worked perfectly.

Also the camera does not turn off when you close the screen it goes into stand by mode. To fully turn off the camera you have to press the power button then close the screen.

    Garbage, 2008-04-22
I bought this camera with high expectations.. I started shooting video and thought that the contrast range looked pretty bad on the view finder.. I bring it home and look at it on the computer and it looked YouTube bad.. I mean really crappy. I'm a professional editor so I know how video is supposed to look. My Hi8 sony handycam I had back in 1993 shot video 10x better than this piece of garbage. It has horrible contrast range, there is a lot of artifacting and noise when recording certain patterns such as vertical shapes. The color representation is atrocious. Nothing is in focus everything looks soft. I returned it 4 days latter and bought a Panasonic GS320. If you care about having crispy beautiful video go with a MiniDV 3CCD camera. The technology is stable, supported, and well developed. Until they get HDD cameras that match the quality of MiniDV for consumers I'll stick with MiniDV. I would imagine HD is no different. The data loss recording HD directly to HDD must be horrible if SV is as bad as it was for me. I mean.. my KRZR by Motorola does almost as well.
