Turbotax, 2008-01-12
I've been using Turbo Tax for more than five years. It does a fine job of tracking schedule c items and depreciation, particularly vehicles with part business use.

 Makes doing your taxes easy and fun!, 2008-01-10
This is my third year filing my taxes with Turbo Tax, and I have to admit I actually look forward to doing my taxes each year because this program makes it so easy and fun. It walks you through everything step by step so you don't miss anything. Also, it tallies up your return as you progress along, so you can see how much you are getting (or if you owe anything, God forbid, it will show that as well). I chose this version since I have to file a state return, and the Deluxe Federal & State allows you to download their state program for free.
The only downside to using this program every year is the cost. You have to purchase a new program every year to get the updates. (Why can't they provide the option of downloading a few updates for old programs for a lower cost? It's all a money-making scheme, really.) On top of that, there is an e-filing fee. You would think filing electronically would be cheaper because it requires less paperwork, but it seems like Intuit just wants to make more money. However, the cost is worth the convenience of the product, so I continue to purchase and use the product year after year.

Starting Early This Year, 2008-01-08
I have used this software for the last 6 years and it has worked very well guiding me through my taxes.
This year I made sure to get an early start on my taxes to try to get set and ready to file as soon as I can, and this software will once again help me file timely and properly and I started going through it late last year to see if there were any deductions I could get before the year ended
I highly recommend this software. Always make sure to check to make sure to see if there are any updates to the software before filing, especially if you bought the software early.

The simple way to do one's taxes, 2008-01-08
Each year, throughout the year, I put all of my tax records into a dedicated manila folder so that they'll be handy when it's time to do the next year's federal and state tax returns. And each year I prepare my tax returns using TurboTax. It's difficult to see how preparing one's taxes could be any easier than it is with TurboTax, and TurboTax helps make sure that you don't overlook any valid deductions. As a Mac user I'm grateful that TurboTax works with both Mac and Windows computers.
This version is for for the preparation of both federal and state income tax returns. If you live in a state which does have an income tax, you can save a few dollars by buying the version of TurboTax which covers only federal income tax.
But please get TurboTax and make preparing your income tax return as simple as possible, as well as ensuring that you maximize your deductions. And please get your own central repository for your tax records as you receive them. It's a lot easier than searching all over the place for where you've put them when you're ready to do your tax returns.
