Completely broken software, 2008-06-01 I've used quicken for over a decade and it's always just sorta been fine and worked. I upgraded from 2006 to 2008 and right off the software's help system didn't work for some obscure ActiveX reason. After using the software for 4 months it just stopped downloading transactions from my banks (the main use case for me). When I called tech support I got an Indian call center where the person had difficulty speaking English and following my problem. Additionally I was told I would have to pay $25 to fix the problem. After 1 hour on the phone and no progress being made I politely excused myself and tried reinstalling the software. After the reinstall it completely doesn't work, just locking up hard when I try to restore my 4 months of precious financial data. I'm a software engineer skilled in creating windows applications so I'm not just a confused and wayward user. I'm shocked that such a major software release could be so fundamentally broken. They simply should not be selling this as a viable product and I certainly would not recommend you buying it.
Mr Ed, 2008-05-31 I like the product as I have used it for years. I am having some difficulty downloading info from Wachovia Securities. I have purchased the book "Quicken 2008" and have yet to find advice on downloading info. I will keep searching.
I paid for Quicken, even though Microsoft Money came with my computer. , 2008-05-30 I just want the basics, something that's easy to use whether I choose to do online updates or do things manually. I know that there are different schools of thought, but I find that Quicken is so much more intuitive than what Microsoft offers.

Overall positive experience, 2008-05-30 I have used Quicken products for over 15 years and have always found them to be top of the line. This is still true for Quicken2008. One change, though, might prove problematic for some: starting with this version QIF export/import is no longer supported (unfortunately it was never as robust as it needed to be so it ultimately had to go anyways).

Don't downgrade to 2008! , 2008-05-18 Don't downgrade to 2008!
Do not buy Quicken unless your willing to be forced to upgrade (downgrade?) to continue receiving transaction downloads every 4 years or so!
This is the second time I've been forced to upgrade to a later version of Quicken to continue with download feature and each time you loose functionality. But this is the worst yet and this is version 5 of this release. So glad I waited to the last minute to install this.
And after all these years Quicken still can't properly sort a column of numbers! ( 9 is greater than 11! Not! )
It's much slower than 2005 version!
Can no longer backup directly to CD! Won't tell you about this before you upgrade. Intuit doesn't recognize it as a bug. No listing on their FAQ for the error "Drive is read-only." Must be a feature (right!) - or more likely a ploy to get you to use online backup.
Heres the "fix" they sent!
"Create a new folder on the desktop.
1. Open quicken program 2. Click on File 3. Click on Backup 4. Click on Browse 5. Select the new folder created on the desktop 6. It will backup the file to the new folder 7. Right click on new folder and then send it to the CD. 8. It will backup the file to the CD. "
In other words - backup to hard drive and copy to CD. Yeah - I figured that out myself.
I think they outsourced development and support and this is what you get!
I may buy a share of Intuit just to be a thorn at next shareholder meeting and vote against the board of directors for some satisfaction!
