On the other side of a hill., 2008-10-26
The Whistler XTR690 has picked up KA radar on the other side of a hill. That is where lazy cops sit. So far it's been great. 1 month of heavy use.
Pretty good radar detector, but a lot of false alarms, 2008-10-16
It's a pretty good radar detector, but it has quite a few false alarms. I believe it was worth the money, though.
Best radar detector under $150, 2008-09-14
It has saved me 6 times already in the past 3 weeks, 4 of those times were in the last week of august. They aren't kidding when they try to meet their quotas at the end of the month.
The distance that it warns you in seems to be kind of low though. Most alerts are between 200-300ft it seems, distances where it is a toss up whether you have a chance of not getting detected at your speed or not.
This is a good radar detector if you want to cruise -10mph over and want to do so safely without getting bothered by the LEO's. I wouldn't recommend going 15-25mph over though as your risk of getting caught imo would go up significantly.
All in all a great radar detector for the price and came with rev c. I have it mounted high on the windshield in the middle left by the rear view mirror.
Would recommend to anyone that doesn't want to spend a lot of money on aradar detector and wants something more upscale than a crappy cobra.
 Does not detect all laser; detects all others very well, 2008-08-31
Radar detection is very good for the price. However, it does not detect all lasers, which is what got me (there was no signal). You need to pay the big bucks to get good laser detection. All other radar detection works very well with plenty of time to react.

We used this device on a long trek across the USA. It did not detect any legitimate threats. It sounded many false alarms when passing near road construction but missed real threats from police cars who had pulled cars over to the side. So, I don't really know how to rate it as it did not help us at all. Perhaps all detectors would do the same, but given this experience, I would not buy this device again
