Garmin Portable Friction Mount, 2007-11-30 The suction mount for my StreetPilot i5 kept falling off the windshield. I wasn't certain this product was designed for the i5 or whether it would fit on the dashboard of my RAV4. The answer is yes on both and the GPS does not slide on turns or stops. I highly recommend this product. It should have been included with the i5 (and other Garmin's) as an alterntive to the suction mount.

convienient, 2007-11-29 I bought this to replace the melted garmin mount to windshield. I'm very happy now.
Pros: 1. Portability 2. Stability 3. No worry about hot temperature which could make the rubber monut stuck with windshield.
Cons: 1. a little bit bulky
UNIT NEEDS FLAT AREA, 2007-11-29 THIS FRICTION MOUNT FOR THE NUVI WOULD WORK GREAT ON A MOSTLY HORIZONTAL SURFACE. I HAD TO RETURN MINE DUE TO NOT HAVING ENOUGH FLAT SPACE TO PLACE IT ON THE DASH, WHERE IT WOULD NOT BE IN THE WAY. I HAD TO OPT FOR THE AUTO DASH MOUNT FOR MY NUVI.
Fantastic mounting solution for your nuvi, 2007-11-29 You couldn't ask for much more in a mounting system. The friction mount is sturdy enough to hold my nuvi 660 at a variety of angles, and doesn't slide around the dash while driving. Most importantly, there's absolutely no installation or assembly required - just set the thing on the dash, pop the nuvi on, and you're good to go! When you're safely at your destination, you can pluck the nuvi right off, pick up the mount, and stick it in your glovebox or under the seat. This way, thieves aren't wise to the fact that you might have a GPS in the car.
5 stars for garmin for an excellently designed mount, and 5 stars for Amazon for a great price and fast shipping!

useless, 2007-11-29 Suggest dimensions on this product be provided and checked for fit within car before purchase. It is absolutely useless in my Honda Element as it doesn't fit in any spot where it would not obscure vision.
