Feels Like Stacks & Racks, 2008-07-24
I downloaded the free trial version of this software,Amplitube 2 DUO, which gives you limited amount of options. You only get 2 amps, 2 cabs, 2 mics, 2 effects, but that was sufficient to blow me away. I'm using my custom built computer with XP 2.5 gigs ram and SATA hard drives, the sound is an onboard chip. Which would make you think that the sound would be compromised, but this product is so good it doesn't need an extremely good card. The guitar is passed through an ART Tube MP Studio, which is a tube pre-amp with an 12AX7 tube(for warmth). The ART is then passed through a Lexicon Omega into the computer via USB. I get no latency at all, well at least nothing that would be decernable to the untrained ear. I haven't run it through loudspeakers, but the headphones I am using are adequate (don't want to scare the neighbors). I am definitly going to upgrade to the full product.
