    Very funny movie, 2006-09-26
Don't believe Fox, don't listen to Starbucks or Fuddruckers, and don't pay any heed to the lamebrains who didn't get it: "Idiocracy" is hilarious. It is a rolling-in-the-aisles critique of modern America with a bite too sharp for the greedy wimps at Fox. Satire is hard to pull off, but I'd put "Idiocracy" up there with "Dr. Strangelove" when it comes to successes in the genre. I'm personally swearing off every publication that can't see the greatness of this flick.

A glimpse into the present, 2006-09-18
Corporate America has complete control and has essentially decided how everything will run. The net result? Every available surface is covered in ads. Disposable clothing made from material covered in ads, dispensed from kleenex type boxes.
Automated hospital visits. No one takes responsibility--no one has the sense-- to take responsibility for anything, so everything is dirty, broken, trashed. The movie was clever, had some odd quirky moments, but seriously disturbed me.It's premise, educated people do have fewer kids, less educated folks have more kids lead to societal dumbing down. Perhaps its time we face the fact that all children are our collective responsibility. That might mean that we childless or no, should all care very deeply about school funding. School funding struggles are about the built in hazards of the no Child Left Behind. One aspect of "No Child Left Behind" is the way it nicely dovetails with the goals of military recruiters.Funding for schools is now contingent on two things. One, how children perform on test scores. Two, letting military recruits have run of the school. This is not conducive to developing our children into all they are capable of. All children need to have access to adults who care about them, who read to them, and who who create and protect an environment where children can learn to think.
We also need to get Congress to pass clean election laws so that corporate America doesn't get to poke its snout into every aspect of our lives.
So, even thought the movie was a struggle at times to watch, I'm thankful the crew made the effort. Its provided me food for thought!

If You Liked Office Space and Beavis & Butthead, 2006-09-07
as well as King of the Hill, you will love Idiocracy. If there's one problem with the film, its that the dumbed-down, pervasive corporate culture takes place too far in the future. I think we are practically there already.

Trenchant Satire Lost on the 2006 Audience , 2006-09-04
As he demonstrated with the theatrically ignored OFFICE SPACE (1999), Mike Judge has a talent for capturing the satiric Zeitgeist while it is still percolating in the popular culture. Indeed, the 2006 audience may not know it, but IDIOCRACY is a brilliantly trenchant satire that is perfect for the era in which we all live. FOX's unceremonious dumping of IDIOCRACY demonstrates a tragic ignorance of their own history with Mr. Judge. Would it have killed FOX--the studio that saturated marketed DATE MOVIE--to treat IDIOCRACY with a little more respect? One hopes that Mr. Judge makes his next film with a studio that recognizes his talents.
