Ubuntu is the best OS money CAN NOT get, 2007-04-16 I just installed ubuntu, and im impresed. Its fast, easy to use, and install. It uses just the free space on your hard drive without touching windows at all. It comes loaded with apps, such as office soft, internet... all for free. And it has no virus, spyware... im shocked and i love it.

Linux For the WIndows User., 2007-04-11 Ubuntu is the easiest to use and install of the Linux systems I have tried. The only trouble i have seen is with the partitioner in some midsized disks.

An excellent place to begin, 2007-04-06 This book made the perfect complement to the Official Ubuntu book. The projects were useful and explained well, and covered a wide range of needs and interests.

There is a bit of a learning curve, but overall, it's great., 2007-03-19 I started out with Ubuntu because my laptop had a 64-bit architecture and my Windows was 32-bit. I was angry because if marketing funds are committed to touting a 64-bit system, shouldn't the operating system be 64-bit? I also saw what was coming down the road with Windows Genuine Advantage. So I gave 64-bit Ubuntu a try, as a dual-boot configuration with Windows XP. This was in summer of 06. Now I am seriously considering eliminating the Windows portion of my computer and running Ubuntu 100%. Why?
I guess I could put it this way. The more I get used to Ubuntu, the less I WANT to use Windows. I've had a few more things to learn because I chose the 64-bit version (same is true in Windows, from what I hear), but once I got comfortable using it, I was REALLY comfortable. You can find applications that do virtually anything that you do in Windows, in a much more secure environment. Having Firefox and OpenOffice included in Ubuntu were also huge draws, because now I don't have to worry about what OS I'm working in; Windows, Mac, or Linux, these important programs work the same way. Ubuntu provides what you need out of the box and then lets you do what you need to do. If you try Ubuntu, I guarantee the day will come when it hits you: 'why did I put up with so many problems for so long?'
The hardest thing about trying Ubuntu is choosing to try it. That you can do without installing anything, as the CD can be used as a LiveCD that lets you take Ubuntu for a test drive. If you decide to install it, it only takes about half an hour and you can leave a separate space for XP or Vista or whatever. I really can't recommend Ubuntu highly enough.
