Worked well for the last 3 years, no problems at all., 2008-08-21 I've been using this modem for the last 3 years, I've changed routers (D-Link, Linksys) during that time but the modem is still going strong. I've not experienced any problems with it at all with my Comcast Broadband connection. I had not realized that Comcast had been charging me $3.95 for modem rental per month before I got this modem. It therefore makes sense to get your own modem.
I got mine as part of a retail store promotion. If you signed up for Comcast at the big box electronics store, they sent you a gift card for the value of the modem when you activated your account. I'm not sure if that promotion is still ongoing after 2-3 but you can check at your local electronics store.

Stay far away from this unit, 2008-08-18 This is a bad unit as it has a confirmed firmware issue that Motorola is refusing to fix. After 3 days of flawless operation, the unit started to Reboot itself which is beyond annoying. My wife informed me that during the day time the modem could reboot 20 times.
I will promptly return this unit to Amazon.

Good Modem, 2008-08-17 I bought this modem to replace my old Comcast rental modem. I expected to see a big improvement on download speed but it didn't really happen. Anyway, the modem serves its purpose.
Basic and stable, 2008-08-10 You just can't go wrong with the Motorola Surfboard cable modem. It's basic, simple, stable and it's performance is exceptional. It's a win win decision to get one of these and stop paying exorbitant modem rental charges to your ISP.
