 Simple, dependable performance, 2008-02-23
I had had my old modem for several years and didn't realize it was giving me problems. I started having connectivity problems which looked like the cable was out. Got Comcast out, they verified a cable problem, fixed it, and everything worked again. Then a week or two later, started having the same problems, but more consistently and began to suspect the modem. Got this new one, it installed instantly, and all problems solved. Note that I had to get Comcast to register it, and when I did, they asked if I was using a router on the other side. When I said yes, they said they wouldn't support it, but agreed to register anyhow when I agreed I understood but wanted it connected anyhow. As for the modem, it's basically set it and forget it. I don't like to give 5 stars unless something is fantastic. But in this case, I can't think of anything that would cause me to take away a star.
Cheaper and Just As Good, 2008-02-15
I tried a more expensive Linksys before the Motorola, and so far I've found no difference performance-wise. The only advantage of the Linksys was its' smaller size, but for me--with all the other devices and wiring--that didn't matter.

It works without a problem to my cable internet service. I love that the internet can be disconnect with the touch of a button. GREAT protection and kid control.
Very Impressed! Extremely FAST!!!, 2008-02-10
This cable modem replaced an old Toshiba I had for 4-5 years. The cable installer recommended this model on a service visit, told me I would see some throughput gains by switching....My curiousity got the better of me and I bought it. WOW. My throughout has increased by 5Mps!! Was clocking 6Mps..now average is 11Mps...Now I'm starting to see what I have been paying for with my "premier" Internet package. Setup was a breeze, took 5 minutes: unwrap and plug in (1 min) then wait on hold with ISP to register the new modem (4 Min). Very pleased so far..
motorola cable modem, 2008-02-08
Very easy to get up and running. one call to the cable company to fix things on their end and it was all set.
good buy when you consider the cable rental is 3 bucks plus tax a month. this unit pays for itself in a little over a year.
