    Shuffle for Audiobooks, 2008-10-03
I purchased this player strictly for use with audiobooks. It is the first iPod I have owned. It is very easy to use. At first, I used the provided ear buds but find that outside noise during my train commute was too distracting so I purchased over-the-ear Sony headphones and all is well. Tow related complains...I may be wrong about this but it seems that the iPod will only charge through my PC when I also start the iTunes software. However, doing so forces a sync between the player and the shuffle. Sometimes, unpredicably, this syncing looses my bookmark, i.e. the positon where I was in the audio book when I last listened. I never play the audio books through my PC, so the sync-ing shouldn't effect the bookmark. Once a bookmark is lost, finding your way back to your last position can be frustrating, particulary with larger books that are spread across several files. One work-around might be to only load up one file at a time and I may consider doing that. Overall, though, its a great little device at a good price.

    This player is worthless, 2008-09-28
I have purchased three of these 2nd generation shuffles. All three have had the same, exact problem, and none of them work, even though I've only owned them a month. I bought them for myself and my two kids. They worked at first, but upon charging, updating software, and adding songs, they inevitably had some sort of software problem and quit working. I searched Apple's support area, and although I've now spent countless hours trying to fix my particular problem, I have been unable to even find the problem listed on Apple's website, and I am unable to actually speak to a human being about the issue. I will NEVER buy an Apple product again. They have lost me forever.

    Good for workouts!, 2008-09-26
I live for my iPods but after destroying my nano in a traumatic treadmill accident, I decided to get an iTouch and a shuffle for workouts. The shuffle was cheaper, so I got that first. :)I love it actually. It is very lightweight and can be clipped to the end of my t-shirt while I exercise without getting in the way. And I just put on my top workout songs which I probably wouldn't put on the iTouch when I get it cause there are just certain songs that motivate me to get moving and not necessarily for every day listening. The thing that most struck me is the headphones though. I had the 1st Gen nano for the last 3-4 yrs (?)and those headphones were painful and always slipping out. The ones with the shuffle are smaller and neater and fit perfectly. Not to mention the new green colour is very cute.Very good buy!

    Perfection!, 2008-09-24
Bought the bright green 2GB 2nd generation iPod shuffle for myself, and the special edition red 2GB 2nd generation iPod shuffle (available only through Apple; proceeds go to AIDS in Africa) for my wife.

We're about to go on a vacation in Aruba, and I thought this would be a nice addition for the plane ride, sunning on the beach, and working out. It's so tiny and lightweight that you can clip it on and forget about it. The controls are tiny, but even for my big hands they're easy to use. No, you don't get all the functionality of bigger iPods, but if you just want to grab about 400+ songs and go!, it's a great little gizmo.

Loading songs and powering up is a cinch, even for us technically challenged types. I made a folder in iTunes with favorite songs, then hooked up the iPod and left it go for the afternoon. Voila! The iPod did all the work.

Sound quality is just great for something the size of a matchbook carting all those tunes around... I also ordered the plug adapter charger, since the battery life is about 10-12 hours, and on vacation that won't go far. For everyday recharging, you can get it powered up via USB to your computer.

I also got my wife's iPod engraved, since it was technically a birthday present. She had always said she didn't see any need for an iPod, but once she tried it out with all her favorite songs on it, she was ecstatic.

Maybe someday I'll also get one that handles vid and pics, but for now, this is simplicity defined!

IT'S SMALL, CAN TAKE IT ANYWHERE. THE DELIVERY WAS SO QUICK IT WAS
UNBELIEVEABLE. BOUGHT THEM FOR MY GRANDCHILDRED, BUT IT'S NEW TO ME
AND I'M SORRY I WAITED SO LONG TO GET MYSELF ONE.
