 Great Keyboard, 2008-10-07
It's not as quiet as I hoped for, but its not loud at all.
I absolutely love the inscribed keys-they're very very easy to see both when lit and when not.
Very easy to change the lighting color and the dimming- just hit a small button to scroll through the colors (blue, red, pink-purple) and use the dial to move from completely dark to bright. You can only have the set colors though.
I haven't figured out if I could change the music control keys (skip song, play, pause, stop) to work with winamp. Not sure if this is possible.
Keys are easy to push and quite responsive. Wrist rest is easily removable and comfortable.
Whole thing looks great!

I've owned this keyboard for over a year and love it. I'm a visual typist and like to work at night but didn't always want a bright overhead light on. This works perfect! I like the fact that it's backlit, unlike others I've seen on the market which have too much white light, this is more understated. The only con, however, is that the light could be a little brighter so you had the option of turning it down, and the light isn't very consistent throughout the keyboard, but it definitely does what I need it to do, and I love the option of 3 different colors; red is my favorite - easy on the eyes. I've just purchased another keyboard as a gift for my Mother, so I'd definitely recommend it to others.
great back lit keyboard!, 2008-09-29
I bought this after thinking about buying a laptop with a back lit keyboard. But after testing a 15 inch Inspirion & a XPS. I decided to buy a PC with a back lit key board instead. I'm glad I did! I bought a fully loaded Dell XPS 630i with a 24 inch monitor and printer for $1,200 and my Saitek key board makes it complete.
Saitek Eclipse II - Rock solid keyboard..., 2008-09-23
Originally I just wanted a keyboard with back lighted keys. The Eclipse II model is a major improvement, unlike the Eclipse I, this keyboard had a solid construction. A heavier weight paired with rubber anti-slip pads insures the keyboard will not move under use. The keys are another nice feature, they have a good tactile feel and response. I highly recommend this keyboard for gamers.

 Decent but room for improvement, 2008-09-16
I bought the Saitek Eclipse II after quite a bit of research into illuminated keyboards and have discovered personally that most of the reviews here and elsewhere are accurate.
The good: Yes, it's a glowing keyboard. All keys are visible in low or no light. There are three color choices available. There are a variety of quick keys such as A/V volume, play, mute, etc. It's a reasonably ergonmic keyboard and fairly comfortable for typing or gaming.
The bad: The brilliance of the lighting leaves much to be desired. Blue is probably the most brilliant of the three color choices and even at the max setting it's far from "bright." In fact, the other colors (purple and red) are barely visible. Many common quick keys are nonexistent such as browser navigation, power control, and calculator.
Te ugly: No, that's not a typo. The "h" key routinely sticks. Further, the space bar uses a single central spring support rather than the traditional (and much more reliable) double spring, making "spacing" an exercise of precision, requiring re-learning your basic keyboarding to press the space key precisely in the middle. This is a surmountable obsticle, though on a $70 plus keyboard, it should be a complete non-issue. I have not had the keyboard long enough to experience the fading keys that others have experienced, though I don't doubt the veracity of that claim given the other issues I've run into.
Bottom line: Yes, this is an illuminated keyboard. However, it is far from a GOOD keyboard, or even a good illuminated keyboard. For the money, buyers rightfully should expect much more than is delivered. Wait until the Eclipse III comes out, or look for one of the very few other illuminated keyboards out there.
