parallels for mac, 2007-03-25 program has worked flawlessly with XP,Microsoft Office and Dragon 8; allowing unimpaired use of "windows"-based programs on Apple hardware without slowed production and without increased difficultly of use.

Does What It Claims, 2007-03-25 The very reasonably priced Parallels Desktop for Mac does just what it claims to do. Amazingly, I can run Windows XP Home Edition on my Intel-based iMac. Parallels installs easily. It gives you a great deal of flexibility in setting up your virtual machine(s), with an easy, quick-start option that sets up for XP Home and gets the installation started, an option that gives you a little more flexibility and allows to run the Windows (or other OS) installer yourself, and a third option that gives you complete control and lets you configure everything.
I use Parallels mostly just to run VPN and Remote Desktop Client to get into my computer a work. For some reason, when I run the VPN connection directly on the Mac and use the Mac version of Remote Desktop Client, my connection is dropped about once every five minutes. With the VPN and RDC running under Parallels, though, I have no such problem. And, the screen refreshes from Remote Desktop are much, much faster than with the Mac client. While I'm running the connection to my work computer through Parallels, I can have iTunes and email running on the iMac at the same time. Pretty cool.
The bad news about Parallels is that the free technical support by email is very poor. Shortly after installing Parallels, I installed the latest update from the Parallels website. I immediately lost the ability to connect to the network. My email requesting technical support went unanswered for over two weeks. When the reply finally came, it did have the correct answer to my problem. Fortunately for me, I had already found the solution on [...], where other users with the same problem had posted their solution.
Bottom line: Parallels is reasonably priced and really works. Unfortunately, like most software these days, the technical support is poor.

Have your Mac and WIndows, too!, 2007-03-24 Ready for the switch to Mac (with the Intel processor) but can't give up your favorite solitaire game or odd application? GET THIS PRODUCT! Now that there is Office for Mac, there are fewer and fewer Win-only items, but for those few, Parallels Desktop is the asnwer. It is easy to install, easy to use and you won't believe how fast Windows loads up on your mini "computer-within-a-computer." NOTE: When you are ready to trash your PC- SAVE the Windows disc (XP is best) because you will need it to use this progrsm. Now I have all the great features of MAC (and its superior stability) AND the few little things I could not leave behind (SolSuite).

Works as advertised, 2007-03-21 I'm doing web app development, and use this daily. It's a great tool, and is pretty stable for what it's doing. I've suffered a few crashes, but only after leaving it running for weeks on end. It makes it very easy to pass files to it from OS X, just through a certain folder.

Excellent product - easy to install and runs like a charm, 2007-03-20 I've always been a PC user and got the urge to try a Mac. But a couple of my apps (mainly Quicken) aren't available for the Mac (yeah I know there's a version of Quicken for the Mac but it doesn't have what I need). Parallels installed flawlessly. The auto installer for Windows (XP) was a breeze, then installed Quicken. Runs like a charm - faster than on my old PC. Only downside was having to buy a copy of Windows.
