 Installation and Operation of SB5120 Cable Modem, 2008-05-05
The SB5120 was easy to install and put into operation. I had never installed a cable modem or wireless router. I knew nothing about installing these. However, the instructions that came with the modem were simple and easy to understand. It took about 5 minutes to install. The modem has been in operation for approximately 1 month with no issues. It's working great.
good unit, 2008-04-23
I recently got charter cable high speed. Took the Unit out of the box, plugged it in, called the cable company and gave them my mac number and it went to work. Had no problems. It seems like a good unit. I like the internet disconnect button on the top of the unit. It allows me to leave my computers on and not connected when I'm not going to be offline for a while.

I must be crazy! Why did I wait so long to buy a cable modem and dump that ridiculous rental charge from my cable company? Don't know, but glad I eventually did.
Easy to set-up - if you read the quick instructions. I'm sure some people will appreciate the USB connector instead of using the ethernet option, but I prefer the ethernet option. In any case, the instructions clearly say do NOT connect BOTH.
The MSID is easily found on the bottom and relatively easy to read. The hardest part of the set up was getting my cable company to activate this MSID.
Other than that, speed tests were at the high end of the advertised rate, generally faster and more reliable than the rental. I highly recommend this product.

Yes, even thou this unit is given as a rental by comcast, they could not provision the unit I bought. 2 hours latter, no luck, I switched to a Linksys and provisioned in 2 minutes.
