Pure mindless fun, 2005-12-20 For those who demand deep, engaging storylines from their FPS games, Painkiller is not for you. For those who cannot stomach massive amounts of gore, Painkiller is not for you (the game is rated M for a reason). This game is INTENSE. It's impossible to keep your heart rate down when you are surrounded by enemies, running in circles and strafing just to stay alive. The enemies and environments are highly detailed, and the sound is incredible. Yes, the story is paper-thin, but that stops mattering when the bad guys show up. If you just want to play a straightforward run-and-gun FPS, this game will not disappoint you.
On a side note, I also received my CD-key with the game. I don't know what happened with the other guy's copy.

Great Game!!, 2005-05-18 I don't know what the other person was talking about. But what I do know is that the product key came with mine. It is just in a slip of paper, and you can easily loose it. It can drop out the box and slip away. So that is what probably happened.
I got my Gold Edition and I am enjoying it! The graphics and music are fantastic and the fights are brutal! Secrets are hard to figure though but it you are like me you have the patience to run around and look around.
The environment portraid in this game is amazing, this is my favorite part of the game, and it is also kind of creepy-but not DOOM 3 creepy- there is plenty of lights a and open space.
I recommend this version because it is less then buying the two version seperate, plus the expansion pack is even better though the opening videos of the main character was changed (don't know why they did that), but the fight scenes and environments are even more intense.
Enjoy!!

This low review score is for Dreamcatcher's goof-up., 2005-05-06 I got the Gold Edition of this game brand new in the mail and couldn't wait to start it up. I put in the first disc and everything was fine until it asked for the CD-Key. I searched the box over and over for it but it wasn't there. I thought I was going crazy. I have hundreds of games and NEVER had this problem before. I was sure that I'd lost it somehow.
As it turns out, I went online to the Painkiller Gold forums and found out that I wasn't unique. Dreamcatcher didn't put CD-Keys into ANY of the gold edition games. You mean to tell me that they couldn't open just ONE box to make sure it is complete before they ship thousands of them out to stores everywhere?
I am in the process of working with Dreamcatcher to get a CD-Key. If you buy this edition, you'll have the same problem. You'll have to scan copies of the discs, and email them along with your information to Dreamcatcher. Then, you'll have to wait who knows how long to get a response. Maybe if I ever get this game functioning, I'll come back and write another review.
