    OK..., 2008-11-05
I had bought a new Razr last fall, and it had a speakerphone function, but didn't come with a corded hands-free headset, which I had been used to using on my previous Nokia phones. I decided to jump in on the bluetooth wagon and this model had gotten good reviews, and was (and still is) on a great sale here on amazon.

I bought this in May. I've used it off and on, but keep finding myself going back to just using the speakerphone to be hands free.

The fit is just not good for my ear. I'd say you should "try it on" before buying, but of course you can't. If you know someone who has one, maybe ask to borrow it. As other reviewers have mentioned, it just isn't a tight fit - it's not uncomfortable that way, but I would find that turning my head sharply to talk to my kids in the back seat would send it flying.

It was super easy to connect to the Razr phone, but some people would mention that they had a hard time hearing me when I used it. I could always hear the other person.

As it happens, my mother thought she had found this model of mine - I had to travel to her house within the last few weeks and hadn't seen it since - however, when I got it in the mail, it turns out to be an H700 model instead. We've asked all over, but can't find the owner, so I'm using it for now.

It fits my ear much better and has the same or better sound quality and features (I think maybe it's just not the newest connection speed, but neither are most phones.) Personally, I would recommend it over this HS850.

This wasn't bad, and certainly was a good price, but it didn't "wow" me. Not being an experienced bluetooth owner, maybe nothing would, but I can't give it more stars.

    Pleased with purchase, 2008-11-04
The product works great and arrived in a timely manner. The volume control works well - I have not had any trouble hearing any conversations. My only complaint - and it doesn't impact the performance of the product, but the picture shows a silver/blue image and I received a black/silver one - I just thoguht that was strange, but I'm still pleased with the product overall.

    High-quality, affordable headset, 2008-11-02
    THE GOOD
    Good sound quality
    Easy to use buttons
    Generally comfortable
    Long battery life
    Excellent range

    THE NOT-SO-GOOD
    A bit loose
Gets uncomfortable after long periods of time

WOULD I RECOMMEND TO A FRIEND? Definitely.

I live in a basement apartment with poor cellular reception, so decided to get a bluetooth headset to allow me to keep my phone by the window without pinning myself down. I purchased a the HS850, and have been very happy with it. I have been able to leave my cell phone in one place and wander the rest of my 800 sq ft apartment without losing the signal. I'm also pleased with the sound quality. It lacks bass, but pure vocal sounds require mostly treble, making the bass a non-issue. I've always been able to hear others clearly and those I call with the headset have reported the same. I also like that the buttons are designed and placed that I am able to easily find and press them with the headset on my ear. On other headsets, I've had trouble keeping straight which volume button is which as well as managing to press them down while the headset is on my ear. The buttons on the HS850 are easy to press and separating the volume buttons by placing one on top and one on bottom makes it easy to keep track of which is which.

My main complains come from the earpiece. It has never fallen off, but it does feel loose causing the headset to flop around a bit. I also have found that if I wear the headset for more than about an hour, it starts to feel a bit uncomfortable.

Overall, I find the positives far outweigh the negatives. For the price, this is a very high-quality and reliable headset. I would not hesitate to recommend it to others.

    Terrible audio, 2008-10-30
The audio on this unit is terrible. I used to have an H700, which I loved. I thought a newer model would be even better. Wrong! There is a delay in responding to the phone. When my phone says, "Please say a command.", all I hear is "...mand." I did not have this problem with the H700 using the same phone.
There is a lot of static on receive. The audio level is too low to hear, even at the highest volume setting. This must have been known by Motorola, but their solution was to add a little rubber gasket around the speaker. Very uncomfortable on my ear.

The store (DBROTH) I bought it from does not take returns unless it is unopened. Do not buy anything from DBROTH if you want the option of returning it if you are not satisfied.

Motorola HS805-Can't Stay On My Ear, 2008-10-26
The Motorola HS805 does not work for me. It simply cannot stay on my ear. I tried numerous times to hook it on; sometimes it hooks on but ultimately falls off when I press the button or turn my head. Even when it hooks on, it feels unsteady. Too bad, because the call clarity was quite good and was easy to use. I finally gave up on it and purchased a Bluetooth speakerphone for my car, which works great. See my review on Motorola T305.
Bottom Line: I would not recommend it.
