Rate the game on its merits, not your system's flaws., 2005-05-24
I was reading the reviews for this game, and I noticed that the over all rating of the game had been dragged down to a mere 3/5 stars because of a plethora of reviewers who merely stated the same error occuring on their computer.

Because they did not properly read the game requirements on the packaging (the error in question, pixel shading v1.1, is specifically addressed). I know that it may be hard to determine, but do your research, edios support has a list of cards in their FAQ about the game that will work.

That said, check before you buy. Other than that issue, be aware that this game is amazing, and deserves a higher rating than the hordes of malcontents would have you believe it gets. It may be frustrating that your year-old computer cna not handle a new game, but you should always check, that is part of the responsibility of the consumer, not the manufacturer that clearly states all of the requirements on the packaging and the various websites.

Mom digs it too... :D, 2005-05-20
ok ok. i like to tell myself i bought this game for my 6-yr old son - but just between you and me, there's just something phenomenally adorable about lego figures in video games to me...i have lego chess and a couple others. so when i heard there was a Star Wars lego game, it was a no-brainer. Mom (i mean, my SON) had to have it. LOL

only issue i have w/ the game is that i cannot see faces on the little guys and sometimes the graphics don't quite do what they're supposed to, like there's a bug in the program or something. judging by what i've read from others' reviews, i am guessing my vid card isn't up to snuff...but i'm operating on a Pent 4 w/ 1 gig RAM - more than plenty for this game.

other than that, i LOVE this game. i can't wait to get home tonight from work and play it. my son has now been shoved away from my computer!!! LOL whoever thought you'd see a 36 year old professional female playing lego Star Wars??? after a hard day of drafting legal documents, i alone control the fate of the universe. how cool is that?!?! i especially like to use "the force" - just because i CAN! :D

the music and background effects are stellar. i am constantly amazed at the detail this game has (but then again, i grew up on atari, so most things nowadays look great to me) - just that someone somewhere took time to make EVERYTHING lego-oriented is just grand - the detail is really great and worthy of high praise.

as for children playing it, it's great because there is no blood/gore like most vid games now. it's cool to fly the ship and shoot at bad guys and all. i especially like to control R2D2 and make him beep. LOL FOFL OMG i have lost it!!!

you can be a kid again and nobody has to know...unless you tell them. ;)

Think your brand new PC will be able to handle this game? THINK AGAIN!!! Buried in the fine print of the requirements for this game is the horrifying truth. You have just wasted $30 because you don't have the correct hardware built in to your graphics card. And you can't return open software, sorry. You've been tricked like the rest of us.

Now your 6 year old is in tears, and you are the bad guy because you won't spring for another $100 to upgrade your BRAND NEW COMPUTER. Lego, Eidos, and Giant are really making a name for themselves on this one!

Great game.... if you can get it to work, 2005-05-16
I bought this game for my son because he loved playing the demo in the store so much. Unfortunately, just like many many other reviewers, this game will not work on my computer. This is particularly frustrating because this computer is not even a month old. There is no way I'm going to drop another $155 to upgrade a new computer just to play this game no matter how cute it is. Be VERY VERY careful... do NOT waste $30 on this game unless you are absolutely positive that your computer has the right kind of video card.

Very good game but first look at requirements!, 2005-05-13
Lego Star Wars--my dream come true. But it didn't work when I bought it, so I had to get a new vid card and it is one of my favorite games. Free play is totally awesome, and you can play with over 50 characters in over 17 different scenes (I am not sure how many because I haven't unlocked the secret level yet). But beware, look at the requirements, if you don't you will have wasted thirty dollars (well it's a nice-looking box). Also, if you do not want to spoli Ep III, do NOT buy this. I know most of what happens in III because of this game, of course I couldn't wait. But on May 20 when you still have smudges of Darth Maul face paint on your face and have seen the movie five times, but it!! you won't be disappointed.
