Cool Addition to Doom 3, 2007-03-08 The addition of the "grabber" anti-gravity tool/weapon and the double barrel shotgun changed the way I play the game. For enemies that launch plasma fireballs at you, they can now be defeated without firing a single weapon at them; you just catch their fireball and shoot it back at them - as you dodge their continual firing at you. It makes it possible to stockpile your ammo for the times when you need it.
I also like the way the "artifact" evolves to change it's effects as you beat certain bosses.
The bosses are difficult to defeat - even when you know what you have to do, which takes a bit to figure out sometimes, which makes for good gameplay.
Hours of gameplay from an expansion pack with some interesting twists at the end.
Doom 3: Resurrestion of Evil Expansion Pack, 2007-01-06 It was well packed, got here quicker than exspected and a scream to play. ;P
Not Worth $, 2006-12-28 If you are thinking of buying this game: 1. Play Doom 3 again. 0r 2. Buy F.E.A.R.
It is almost exactly the same as Doom 3.
Makes improvements, but still too dark and repetitive., 2006-11-06 The original Doom 3 was quite a showcase for the new engine - however, many were concerned that this was all it was - a showcase of what could be done with little attention given to the gameplay. As such, the expert level design of the original games seemed thown out in favor of a "get from A to B while monsters jump out at you" approach.
This new add-on changes little of this. The environments are still mostly the same level over and over. There isn't the emphasis on unique level design, secret rooms, and ancient demon temples that made the originals so fun. But, they have toned down the difficulty quite a bit - and they have given you two new weapons to alter the gameplay a little.
Both new weapons are fun, they bear strong resemblance to two recent PC hits - Half-Life 2 and F.E.A.R (though I cannot say for certain which developer came up with the idea first). The Half-Life contribution is a variation of the gravity-gun. But rather than being used to pick up objects to be used as weapons (which you can do a little of, but not very effectively) here it is used to catch the plasma balls shot at you by the various demons and shoot the balls back at them. This is a fun new element.
The F.E.A.R. contribution comes in the form of a disembodied ancient heart (the same from the end of the original Doom 3) that now allows you to momentarily slow down time. This way you can rush into a room and take out all the bad guys before they even get one shot off. This also adds a new element of strategy in that you can only hold three such charges at a time, and you must allow for the limited time this effect lasts.
Aside from these innovations, there is little to distinguish this from its predecessor. Like the original Doom3, this one is at its best during the brief visit to hell. I wish they had invested more time in this setting and less among the repetitive halls of the space station. Oh well, maybe there will be another add-on that will return us to the feel of the original series.

In some ways better then Doom 3 and then others not...., 2006-03-10 Overall it was not bad.
It didn't feel like a new game; more like an add-on off stuff that was cut out or missed development from the original game. I kind of missed the continuous insults from the original. The taunts could be corny but to me it added to the game.
It seems there was less interaction in this game as well.
Two nice additions are the double barreled shotgun and the grabber. At first I didn't see the need for the grabber but found it useful especially when grabbing bolts and flinging them back(saves ammo) and grabbing and tossing cherubs (kills them). The demons seemed a little smarter here. They hid behind stuff more and didn't always charge into your line of fire.
The chainsaw is gone. Some of the weapons didn't feel the same. I didn't use the chain gun or the rocket launcher that often.
The bosses are a challenged especially the final fight. Store up your heavy hitting ammo.....
The ending is ok.
Again it's not a bad add-on in fact I think if it was part of the original game there wouldn't have been very many detractors.
It game me many hours of play so what more can you ask?
