Big, reliable, fits the bill, 2008-02-28
This product works perfectly for what I use it for. I've used the GPS functionality to navigate around Boston and Massachusetts, and it has worked flawlessly in that capacity. I've used Pocket Word to input various notes, and that has also worked for me. I've used Pocket Excel to manage grading for my 100 9th grade students in my 9th grade algebra class, and it's worked exceptionally well there as well. I've downloaded various PocketPC programs for this unit as well and have had no problems working with those programs either.

All in all, for a relatively fast GPS unit coupled with a very good PDA system, I can't think of something better for me. I also own the Cingular 8125 HTC Wizard device, and I much prefer the larger display of this GPS/PDA to that device. This unit uses WM2003, not WM2005 and later versions of WM, but I have found no real functional difference in operability on the WM2003 platform as opposed to the WM2005 platform.

If I had to make one complaint, it would be that it takes roughly about 1-2 minutes for the GPS receiver to pick up a satellite signal after opening the device. I have no experience with faster satellite recognition in other GPS systems, but I haven't seen that this has been any hinderance to finding places in Massachusetts for me. All in all, a great buy! If you can get it on sale in other venues, it might be even more attractive at its pricepoint.

Sync with Outlook dosen't all ways happen automatically, have to reset unit. GPS can be up to several hundred yards off actual position. Dosen't all ways recognize turn was not taken or that you are on an adjacent road

As an experienced GPS user (Four Garmin GPS devices including two iQue models), who was once assigned with the military organizations which manage the GPS program, I can tell you that the iQue M5 is an excellent GPS and well worth the money. The Mobile Windows really gives you the "pocket PC" experience and the GPS portion seems to be quite a step-up from the earlier iQue models (I also have an iQue 3200). This all-in-one device puts all the modern conveniences (i.e. MS Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) in a pocket-sized device which adds the GPS ability for routing and locating areas of interest. One word of advice. If you get one, or any other Garmin device, make sure you visit their website and download the latest software.

    Excellent device, highly recommended, 2007-01-19
Excellent unit, no problems. Just like the new Iphone from Apple you can play mp3, movies, browse the internet, and of course navigate using the GPS. What you can't do is make phone calls but who cares? Most people don't want a phone the size of a pda anyhow.

The audio jack on top allows for better audio quality, for example headphones. With a cheap FM transmitter you can use your car's radio+speakers.

I have tested the following cards and they are 100% functional with this PDA:
    - Spectec 802.11b/g SDIO Wi-Fi WLAN Card
    - Kingston 1GB Secure Digital Card (SD)

One minus to consider if you are buying this: the GPS maps need to be downloaded from a PC to the unit. Additionally the PC software needs to be 'unlocked' using a registration key. For a computer novice, there are several pitfalls here so if you are not comfortable with this I would go for something with preloaded maps.

Excellent Product...works great after I downloaded the maps. The only issue at first was finishing downloading the maps. It takes a while to download the entire U.S.. For some reason at the end, it would just freeze up. i weas finally able to accomplish loading the maps by leaving out a few Northwest states as I do not travel there. I recommend you get a SD card and put maps on that so if you have to reset you do not lose anything.
