This is the best MIDI Sequencer on the market., 2007-05-27 If MIDI is your thing, look no further than FL Studio. I have been using this program since version 3, and it has never failed me.
What makes FL Studio stand apart from other MIDI programs is the ease of use. The implementation of the piano roll and playlist editor ensure that your ideas, whatever they are, are realized as easily as knowing where the notes are, and how to program a rhythm. The only limitation worth mentioning is that it isn't (or is it?) possible to change time signatures in the middle of a song. However, the versatility of the Piano Roll and your own creativity can easily overcome this barrier.
The mixer gives you up to 64(!) channels of effect combinations which can be assigned to any instrument or combination of instruments that you choose. This equals a seemingly infinite arsenal of sonic possibilities, which are again, mainly limited only by your own imagination and creativity.
I wouldn't use this as your primary application if you're planning on recording live instruments, but thanks to the ReWire technology, FL Studio can be easily integrated into your audio workstation of choice. I use Cakewalk Sonar, and it works beautifully.
Add all of the above to the fact that pretty much ANY VSTi or DXi, and most any effect plugin are compatible with this program, and you have an all purpose Behemoth of a MIDI program, which is limited only by..
yeah..
Get it.. imagine.. and create.
