Works great with Thinkpad T60, 2008-05-19 I bought this Adaptec AFW-1430A FireConnect to transfer video data from a Sony DCR-HC62 Mini DV camcorder to a Thinkpad T60. The adapter accomplished the job easily and perfectly. Windows XP Professional recognized this Adaptec cardbus and there was no need for any external "driver". This PCMCIA cardbus has 3 IEEE 1394 Firewire ports and a DC power jack for optional external power adapter. I did not need to use the power jack for transferring the video data to my computer. I assume the power jack may be needed for some other tasks requiring more power??. In summary, this card provides 3 firewire ports, is recognized by Windows XP, it is well made, and reasonably priced. Just make sure your computer accepts CARDBUS rather than ExpressCard.
Does the job, 2008-05-11 Does exactly what it's supposed to do, no muss no fuss. Isn't it amazing when plug and play really works?
Superb Product for a Low Price, 2008-04-08 Although I have had issues with TRENDnet in the past, the 3-port PCI adapter works perfectly. XP instantly recognized it, and just plug in and go. The only issues are that it did not come with anti-static wrapping and the included 6-pin to 4-pin Firewire cable drops frames, but otherwise it worked well.
Easy to install, easy to use..., 2008-04-04 Bought for the purpose of updating a computer to make it ready for movie editing. It was super easy to install and has been trouble free. Impressive considering we're updating an emachine!
Good card, but bracket doesn't fit Dell XPS 400, 2008-03-31 Great price and two-day shipping with Prime. Plug n play as described, and as others have reported.
However, the bracket did not fit the post on the back of my Dell XPS 400 desktop. The half-circle that is cut out is smaller than the post that it is supposed to sit on, so I had to snap off the corner to get the card to seat properly.
Once I did that, the card works just as described.
A small inconvenience for the price.
