    Course Overview
    This is the second course in a three part series that teaches students how to set up Cluster Services to run line-of-business applications such as databases, messaging servers, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) applications, and core file and print services. Students will learn the necessary background and practice to configure Cluster Services as a scalable, highly-reliable, and easy to manage platform for critical applications.

    Identify how to manage resource groups, resources, file shares, and print services on a cluster.
    Identify how to troubleshoot DFS and print services for a cluster.
    Identify how to install, configure, and troubleshoot cluster-aware applications, cluster-unaware applications, and Virtual server on a cluster.
    Identify how to troubleshoot connectivity and administrative problems in a cluster.

    The audience for this course includes technical managers and system administrators. This course will help candidates prepare for exam 70-223.

    Objectives
    Unit 1: Resources, Groups, and Services 1 - 2 hours

    Identify the sequence of steps for grouping the resources in a cluster.
    Configure a resource group by using the property pages of Cluster Server.
    Identify the correct specifications for creating a cluster resource.
    Select the guidelines for configuring file shares in a cluster in a specified scenario.
    Configure a file share in a cluster by using the New Resource wizard.
    Create a DFS root by using the New DFS Root Wizard.
    Set file share permissions by using the Parameters property page of the Properties dialog box.
    Select the guidelines used to configure print services in a cluster in a specified situation.
    Configure a Print Spooler resource in a cluster by using the New Resource wizard.
    Identify the tasks that are performed to manage print queues in a cluster.

    Unit 2: File and Print Services: Troubleshooting 1 - 2 hours

    Identify the DFS problem associated with a specified symptom.
    Troubleshoot DFS problems in a cluster in a specified situation.
    Identify the causes of print services problems in a cluster based on a specific situation.
    Troubleshoot print services problems in a cluster based on a specific scenario.

    Unit 3: Cluster Applications and Virtual Server 2 hours

    Identify the steps to create a virtual server for a specific application.
    Create an application cluster resource by using the Cluster Application Wizard.
    Identify the benefits of performing a rolling upgrade in a specific situation.
    Sequence the steps to implement the rolling upgrade of Microsoft SQL Server 7.0 to Microsoft SQL Server 2000.
    Identify the dependencies of a resource in a specified situation.
    Troubleshoot resource dependency problems in a cluster in a specified situation.
    Troubleshoot IIS Server Instance resource failures in a cluster in a specified situation.
    Troubleshoot a SQL Server resource in a cluster in a specified situation.

    Unit 4: Clusters: Troubleshooting 2 hours

    Enable cluster logging to track cluster events by using the System Properties dialog box.
    Identify the functions of a Resource Monitor in a specific situation.
    Identify the appropriate troubleshooting decisions for cluster disk connectivity problems in a specific situation.
    Identify the appropriate troubleshooting decisions for node-to-node connectivity problems in a specific situation.
    Identify the appropriate troubleshooting decisions for client-to-cluster connectivity problems in a specific situation.
    Troubleshoot connectivity problems in a cluster based on a specific scenario.
    Identify the appropriate troubleshooting decisions for resource group failure problems in a specific situation.
    Identify the appropriate troubleshooting decisions for resource failure problems in a specific situation.
    Troubleshoot administrative problems in a cluster based on a specific scenario.
