Solid gamepad, good feel, easy to program; D-pad only OK., 2004-12-22
First off, I'm not a hard-core gamer. In dusting off some of my older games though, it became apparent I needed a gamepad. I liked the feel of the Logitech best. The supplied software didn't have profiles for some of my games, but most are easily downloaded from their website. Oddly, Doom & Halo profiles weren't there, but Quake was.

UPDATE: Halo supports the gamepad, so the profile can be modified there. While playing Halo the D-pad seems overly sensitive. I went back to using mouse & keyboard.

UPDATE #2: The more I use it the less I like the d-pad. It seems too small, too sensitive, and too slippery. Unfortunately I can't go back and knock a star or two off of my initial rating.

The Amazon text says there are 10 programable buttons but there are actually 12. The two analog joysticks are buttons as well.

I've tried it with Combat Flight Simulator 3 and the vibration feature is kinda cool, but prefer a good joystick over a gamepad for flight sims.

Don't assume force feedback effects on all games, 2004-12-22
This is a good game controller, but I was bummed out to find some games such as EA Sports Madden 2005 don't support the feedback feature of this device even though most quality games do.

Outstanding gamepad, slight calibration issue, 2004-12-15
I must begin by stating that this controller has far surpassed my expectations. This is a great gamepad, hands-down. It controls like a dream, and feels comfortably familiar to anyone who's used a PS1 rumble or PS2 controller before. Newer games even auto-set your controls to match the layouts of their console counterparts. For example, I just played through Prince of Persia: Warrior Within, and it played and controlled exactly like the PS2 version.

That being said, there is a minor calibration issue with the controller. The only reason I gave four stars instead of five is that Logitech denies the flaw. I've read through a dozen forums with postings from other people who have had the same issue; however, the issue is VERY EASILY remedied, albeit by an unconventional method. The tiniest spritz of WD-40 (or other suitable lubricant) on the left or right analog ball will ensure flawless play. I remedied my controller over two weeks ago, and it still works great.

All in all, this is a fantastic controller - very accurate and smooth, familiar layout, and awesome rumble feature. For anyone who's stayed away from action platformers on PC because of control issues - hate playing on a keyboard, other gamepads' inaccurate and often touchy controls - this gamepad is your dream solution. You can enjoy the cleaner graphics of your PC title and not lose any control or playability.

Logitech sure did it right with this one..., 2004-10-31
Ok, first off, I'll admit that I've only had this pad for a few days now, so there hasn't really been a chance for anything to go wrong. But from what I've seen, this is one great pad. Everything is customizable, even with games that aren't made for use with gamepads. I don't know what the person who said it didn't work with Madden '05 is talking about. Even if your x/y axes ARE switched, the included software allows you to interchange the axes, so you can swap x/y back, or map it to mouse axes, or even assign a different function to each direction of the stick if you so choose. Plus you can adjust sensitivity, dead zone, and range on the sticks for maximum control in any game. So far I've tried it with Max Payne 1 and 2, Aliens vs. Predator 2 (none of which are really designed for gamepad use, with the possible exception of AVP2, which has joystick functions... and they're not even needed when you use the gamepad software), and old school Grand Theft Auto 1. With just a few minutes programming buttons to different game functions until I find the layout I like, it works beautifully with everything. I haven't had a chance to really test the force feedback, but the included tests feel very nice. Bottom line: Buy this controller. You won't be disappointed.

    Great Pad, 2004-09-26
I don't know what the other review is talking about, this is a great pad. I just got it the other day along with Madden 2005 and it works beautifully. I also have Fifa Soccer 2004 and it works with that too. The drivers it comes with are valid and the program it asks you to install I would recommend installing as well.

Anyone with Windows XP, XP will install the gamepad automatically, but I took no chances and installed the drivers as per the instructions that came with it.

This is an amazing pad, it's so good I'm thinking about buying another one so I can play with my friends. I reccomend this to any and all!!!
