Uncomplicated and Easy To Follow, 2006-01-10 Being someone who was completely new to these types of programs, I received a free trial of this product when I ordered my laptop. After a couple of days of messing around with it, and reading a few easy brief tutorials, I was a regular graphic pro. I made a ton of graphics for my graphics journal, and found it easy to make even the most complicated graphics using this program.
I recently received another similar graphics program, and found it way too complicated and hard to figure out. I decided to go ahead and just buy this one because I liked it so much, and I get a lot of usage out of it.

Piece of CRAP software!!!!!, 2006-01-02 I recently bought this item. I knew it was the "old" version and that that they had recently released a new version. It didn't matter to me since I only wanted to do fairly simple things in terms of photo editing anyway.
That being said, you would think that a program with a history as long as Paint Shop Pro, and with a version number of "9" would be fairly well tuned and usable. Well, that isn't true at all!
I spent DAYS (I'm not a moron. I use all types of computer software) trying to figure out how to do a simple thing like crop an image with a fading edge, and paste it onto another image as an inset photo. After I finally figured out how do to it, I executed the command and it went off for 5 minutes grinding my hard drive. As I speak I just terminated the program becaue I was tired of listening to the hard drive grind on my 1 GHz Pentium computer.
I've used picture editing software before and very sophisticated CAD software also. None of it has ever ground my processor to a halt like this piece of CRAP.
Don't even waste $10 on this software. Buy something simple that works.
I would be ashamed to work at a company who writes such pathetic software.......

Fast, easy, and GREAT, 2005-12-01 Paint Shop Pro 9 is my first professional photo software. I desperately needed it, seeing as I was struggling with MS Paint to make graphics for my website. It's easy to use, and self-explanatory most of the time. What little problems I had were either explained in the help section of the software or found on the internet. It's so much like Photoshop or earlier versions of Paint Shop Pro that I use tutorials for them on PSP 9 most of the time. One small problem, though, is that brushes on the internet are mostly for PSP 7 and 8. It took me months to find a forum that explained how to convert them to PSP 9 format. Other than that, this is better than any other program I've used a trial for and worth the money.

I was amazed what I could do with this product, 2005-10-20 I have no background in graphics or art and the extent of my PC graphics experience stopped at MS Paint. I found myself in a situation where I needed some graphics done but didn't have budget to get them done professionally. So I purchased PSP and had a go.
I was amazed at what I could produce in such a short period of time. Within a few hours I was applying fading effects to images and making montages out of several images. Very cool.
I did find the product a challenge to use though. A big part of the problem was that I didn't know the terminology. I would think of an effect I wanted to do, like "fade", but wouldn't know the correct terminology to search for e.g. "mask". But if you are a little more patient than me (not hard) then this shouldn't be a problem.
The help is pretty good but I found that more often I used some of the many PSP "how to" web sites out there. There are lots of good sites out there if you are in a hurry. The program also seems to be a bit slow to load but I'm not sure how this compares to other graphics programs.
Overall, I'm very impressed with PSP and consider it a great bargain.

PSP is great!, 2005-10-08 I have never had the full version, but I have had a trial. I've also had a photoshop trial, but I find that psp is much faster to learn and is easier to use. With photoshop, however, I believe it is sometimes slow. I do think that paint shop pro is a great program to use than photoshop. Sure, photoshop has a few extra things psp doesn't, but some of you may not use it. so psp is the best program I can recommend. MSPaint is another great program, but you can always edit those images made on there in psp!
:)
