    Just couldn't hold a connection, 2005-10-27
My toshiba modem broke after a year and this one looked cool so i got it. Worked fine for about a week, then couldn't hold a signal for more than a day. Lost connection then I'd Unplug wait and plug back in. You know the drill. work, stop. over and over.

Replaced it with a motorola surfboard. A full year later and never a single drop. Not the computer, same connection, problem was clearly the modem.

    Cheers

    Not for p2p users., 2005-10-27
This modem is just fine for a casual internet user but P2P users beware. Allowing > 300 connections will bring your internet connection to a crawl. I get ping of >1000ms (it often times out too) and this is with QoS (HTB w/ iptables on 2.6.13 kernel) that prioritizes ICMP packets. Even casual surfing is impossible in this scenario... All this with upload limited to 20kB (my max supposed to be 96kB while in actuality it's 75kB) -- far from saturating my uplink. I also have a problem with DNS servers that would be a showstopper for many inexperienced users where all addresses point to Cumcast singn-up page. I have to manually put resolv.conf holding my own list of DNS servers that I always keep handy in /etc/ to be able to connect anywhere. However, I'm 99.9% sure that Cumcast is the culprit here and they don't know or are unwilling to fix it. All those problems disappear when I use the rental Motorola modem. Sorry, but I can't recommend this modem and am auction it off ASAP.

    Excellent modem, 2005-10-24
This modem has worked perfectly since day one. I had more hassle with Time Warner speaking to someone that knew what they were doing to convert from their modem to the D-Link. Finally got someone intelligent enough to figure out what to do and it has worked great when finally activated. I notice slightly quicker download speed. Webpages pop up instead of filling the screen from top to bottom like before. I had the original modem issued by TW and it was a Toshiba. Big improvement and reliable.

Does all it needs to do, 2005-09-30
It works and works well, what more can I say? Connected to Comcast and hasn't dropped the connection since. Very easy setup too. Don't rent your modem! Buy this one and $ave.

    D-Link DCM-202 DOCSIS 2.0 cable modem works great, 2005-09-30
The first cable modem I purchased (same make and model) was defective. I couldn't even power it up. So I returned it and got another one. This one works great!! I had no trouble powering it up and connecting it to the PC. So far so good.
I paid $60 for this cable modem. I have no hesitation in recommending it.
