Only works with Microsoft e-mail clients, 2006-06-28 If you are security minded and choose to use an e-mail client like Thunderbird or the bundled Opera e-mail client this program will NOT protect you! Not only that, but the fact that CA Anti-virus will ONLY work with MS Outlook or Outlook Express is not revealed in any documentation. I found this out the hard way when a manual scan found a virus in my Opera mail folder and couldn't clean or quarantine it! The CA tech confirmed that the AV program only works with MS e-mail clients. To me this is false advertising!!!

EZ Trust... well, it's half right., 2006-06-18 Yes, it's easy to install, configure and use. The footprint is small and it doesn't hog resources. That's the good news. The bad news is that this software's virus detection rate is abysmal and the company's tech support is worse. So, in short, don't *trust* it.
Two examples, starting with tech support. After building a new computer, I had several blue screens (stop errors, BSODs) and my analysis seemed to indicate that EZ Antivirus was at least partially responsible. I emailed support with all the relevant info. Their (paraphrased) reply: "We understand that you are having Faults in Windows. This is because you have Windows installed. If you did not have Windows you would not have Faults. Thank you for contacting E-Trust." I should have that engraved on a plaque.
Example 2, AV detection: When my subscription ran out, I uninstalled EZ and tried a demo of Kaspersky. It found 5 viruses on my computer that EZ never told me about. In this case, it's 2 strikes and you're out. Goodby, Computer Associates.
WoW!, 2006-06-05 I just finished writing a review for eTrust's Internet Security package after I saw the unbelievable amount of negative responses. I will not go back to Norton or Mcafee unless the mimic CA's design and usefullness. I am on my second year with this program and have nothing but wonderful things to say about it. It is does not bog my system down like the "other" two nor did it take a lot of space (space was not a issue for me but it helps keep the system running smoothly). Again, this program is great and I definitly recommmend it!

Ex-Norton User, 2006-01-16 I have installed ver. 7 of this software on four computers, two running XP Pro and two with Win98SE. Absolutely no problems with installation on any computers, no software broke, the updates work fine, the automatic scans work fine, and several viruses have been intercepted in email. (Yes, of course the program scans email.)
Zone Labs of ZoneAlarm fame uses CA Antivirus in their Security Suite, and THAT works fine in a couple of other computers that I manage.
The program uses resources sparingly. It won't slow down your system nearly as much as Norton Anti-Virus.
On one of my computers, with an Athlon XP 1800 running XP Pro and 512 mb RAM, the program scans about 260,000 files per hour. The manufacturer offers a free trial download, if you want to test it out. Obviously some others here have had problems with the program, but so far I am very happy with it.

breaks other programs, can't uninstall, 2006-01-08 DONT BUY OR EVEN INSTALL A TRIAL OF THIS SOFTWARE UNTIL YOU READ THIS!!! I tried this program on a recommendation from the Microsoft web site, that should have been a warning right there. On install the etrust antivirus software (nothing else just antivirus) broke my Zone Alarm firewall, interrupted internet browsing and caused the system to hang up. I uninstalled it and have tried installing other antivirus programs since then but none of them will install; they keep popping up with guess what error message? That's right, please uninstall Etrust antivirus software, it is incompatible with our software. I've emailed Etrust and tried thier 'live' online chat and get no response. The software is evil, it looks like I will have to format my hard drive to get rid of it. I can find no related keys in the registry to clean by hand. Don't repeat my mistake!!!
