A few loose ends, but lots of fun!, 2007-04-25
I would concur with those reviewers who felt the game was rushed to market and a bit rough around the edges and unfinished to some degree. However, even with these faults, it was a lot of fun to play.

I played this right after KotOR, so it was more like one long game. People and situations in the first are refered to in the second, giving a very expansive feel to the overall plot.

Graphics were pretty much the same in both games, pretty good but nothing that will blow you away. I think the creators focused more on the plot and character development than on wowing us with amazing visuals. (there are websites out there with patches and mods which greatly enhance the game although I played the first time through without any patches at all).

I feel the best thing about the game is the interaction with your companions, and trying to figure out who is friend and who is foe. The action elements (lightsaber battles, force use) are also very enjoyable. There seems to be a good balance between story, dialogue, and action (although this is obviously up to personal preference).

The biggest negative is that the relationships you spend the whole game developing do not satisfactorally resolve themselves by the end of the game. This is very disappointing as I was just getting into a deeper relationship (actually, two) when the game ended.

There are a few interface improvements in the second game...nothing major but it seems the creators listened to gripes about the first game's interface and made the desired changes.

I didn't encounter any of the bugs people have mentioned so I guess I was lucky. Perhaps the version I installed was a newer one?

All in all, a very fun game with a somewhat stunted ending. Perhaps there will be a third game to carry on this franchise.

jedi with no lightsaber, i uninstalled it., 2007-04-18
Kotor 1's biggest mistake was not giving you a lightsaber until the second area... kotor2 picks up where kotor1 leaves off, by not giving you a lightsaber in the second area either. So i quickly deleted it and haven't ever returned to it. 50 dollars wasted.

I'm sure it would be a lovely game if i had the patience to drudge through until i got a lightsaber.

i recommend you get nwn or nwn2 if you want to fight with swords, much better d20 RPG with sword play.

Great value for the price, 2007-04-17
If you enjoy RPG-type games and "Star Wars," then you will like this game. While not as strong plot-wise as the first game in the series, it's still a better Star Wars movie than any of the prequels. Gameplay is as you'd expect from the first game, with some changes that aren't distracting.

Yes, this game is flawed. Chunks of it don't make any sense, and it is clear that for whatever reason the developer shoveled it out the door before it was done. Compare the enormous Nar Shadaa level with the paltry Korriban level. And there are some jarring jumps and loose ends that leave you scratching your head. Combat is too easy at times, and there is a lot of rat-killing in various levels where you have to defeat numerous local beasts.

Despite its faults, however, this is a fun game. For under $[...], you can't go wrong with this game. Buy and enjoy.

Not perfect, but still worth it, 2007-04-14
You may have heard that this game is full of bugs and plot holes. And yes, to a certain extent that is true. It is also an involving game with great characters who are intelligent enough to notice what you're doing (with the influence system, characters will hold it against you if you insult them, like you more if you kill someone they think doesn't deserve to live, etc.).
You will need to save a lot of games to guard against crashes, but unless it is even more buggy than usual on your computer, the story and gameplay will distract you from it.

GREAT game... (what wan't cut out), 2007-04-12
This game is a great game, but at least 25% (including one ENTIRE planet) of it was cut because of time delays. If you've played KOTOR 1 this is a MUST. It has fine graphics and GREAT (even better than KOTOR 1) gameplay. The plot is much darker and more mysterious than KOTOR 1, but is no cause for celebration. [...]
