    Really Involving, 2007-04-12
At first I thought this type of RPG would be stupid, but after getting started with it it began to interest me. The story line is a little veague. The side quests are fun and sometimes a bit too hard, but you can get through them. The graphics are wonderful if you have the right graphics card installed. I love this game for the fact that it is deep in the way of RPG!
I would highly recommend this game to anyone who wishes to have a fun first person shooter, second person shooter Type of RPG.
The only thing bad about this game is the hardness of some of the bosses and side quests, but that is what makes for a good RPG!

Fun, but has some issues, 2007-03-17
Thankfully, there is a very dedicated community to this game, which include folks who write their own bug fixes. Last I looked (several months ago), the unofficial list was up to about 8 or 9 patches.

That being said, this game did bring some interesting elements to the table. I don't feel I wasted my money - what I felt was wasted was time in looking for bug work-arounds or having to restart due to crashes/corrupted files.

The range of Vampire types is intriguing, but the pre-generated characters were not to my liking. I'd read that apparently they'd scrapped that portion before launch. Skill point allocation had a nice range & was interesting throughout. A disappointment arose in the realisation that had I not concentrated my skills in a particular area, there would've been no way to get beyond that point. For example, say you had to get info out of a computer, but your skills in that area were lacking... Most times there were alternate ways around, but a couple of times not.

In each area there were less and less quests, which was disappointing as well - because despite the bugs, the game IS fun. Trying to figure out where to get your next meal, the quests, dealing w/ the creepy hospital guy - you really wanted the game to keep going, and that is certainly a big factor in my rating :)

    Novel and Fun, 2007-03-11
Vampire: Bloodlines wasn't perfect when it was first released, but recent patches have corrected the minor glitches that marred it on release. You are not given much ability to customize the look of your vampire, which is a drawback, but you are given a selection of different types of characters to play. The insane Malkavians will make a different play experience than the repulsive Nosferatu, whom must stick to the sewers because they are so monster-like.
The game itself is beautifully done, with faces coming to life as they talk. Graphically, the game really shines, though there are some glitches. The game has insane attention to detail, from humorous magazine covers to disturbing collections of human parts, you are immersed in multiple levels of detail.
The story will keep you playing. Some of the quests are simply amazing. The haunted house mission gives you a taste at how flexible the game really is as you discover a sub-story about how a hotel became haunted. And in the process you jump out of your seat multiple times.
The combat is relatively simple, especially if you choose to be a melee fighter. One drawback is that melee combat forces you into third person mode, which lacks the polish of 1st person mode. But ranged combat is particularly fun, as enemies hide behind crates and duke it out with you in a genuine firefight. It is a delightful mix of first person shooter and RPG!
This game is fun, with quests that will scare you and keep you interested, great graphics, and generally innovative combat.

I still play this game and I bought it when it first came out. It's fun but it "can" have glitches, mine were all audio related on my old old computer(when I first got the game) but I got a new system so they aren't a problem anymore. This game is fun to play so just buy it already. It was much better than the first installment of this series and I am also awaiting another title to come out. If you like vampires and rpg games then give this a chance. v-v

    Slightly past mediocre., 2007-01-15
I have no idea why this game runs so poorly with such bad graphics. And games like Half-Life 2 run so smoothly. Might have something to do with crappy programming?

The gameplay gets kind of tedious after a little while.
It reminds me of a cross between, Elder Scrolls, and Fable, with a vampire twist, only a much crappier version of both.

Do yourself a favor and don't buy it. It's really not worth the money at all.
It's more like a novelty. And novelties grow thin after about an hour.
