a known Installation problem, 2008-04-29
Installation cannot be done and it is a known problem. This means that you cannot take an advantage of using the speedbooster.

I bought this as part of a transition from a CAT 5 hard wired home network to a wireless network. Installed in a few minutes (took longer to open the computer case than install the card) on my son's Gateway using Vista operating system. Easy install and immediate recognition of device. Great reception with no issues to date (about a month). Price was significantly less than any of the local electronics chains (Best Buy, Circuit City). Shipping was fast and, as always with Amazon, no worries.

I'm disappointed. The product does work great, when it works. This card was purchased to replace the first one, that failed after about 12 months of service. This one is in service a month or so, and for the last few days it looses contact with the router, necessitating running the hard wire network connection to reestablish a link. I don't know if another brand or model would be any better, having no experience with any other similar product.
Doesn't work for Ad-hoc., 2008-04-09
I bought the WMP54GS to install in my windows XP emachine to run a simple ad-hoc network. My PC froze up. I called LINKSYS support; they said it was my DSL modem's fault. I called Verizon, and they said it was a LINKSYS problem. I installed, uninstalled and reinstalled the software many times; no fix. Now, the WMP54GS sits idle on my shelf. My suspicion is that the card is OK but NOT for ad-hoc networks.
couldnt get signal, 2008-04-07
it wasnt hard to install. but it couldnt seem to get a wifi signal. i dont know it was because of the item or if the signal just wasnt there.
