The pad is NOT JUNK!, 2006-12-06 I've had my Dual Action for well over a year, and I've only had one problem, which was easily fixed. This gamepad is great for starters, or anyone for that amtter. It's a standard HID-compliant gamepad, so it will work on any operation system, not just PC or Mac, but also Linux (which I use), or FreeBSD, etc. It's also great for you PS2 gamers out there, since this pad has a natural PS2 feel to it, mainly because of the similar button placement. The one problem I've had with this pad was easily fixed, and it wasn't the controller's fault, either. It turned out the Logitech drivers were malfunctioning, so I uninstalled the Logitech software, and it worked! Now it just uses the Windows Plug-n-Play drivers, which work great (It didn't leave out anything). So, if you want satisfaction, DON'T INSTALL THE LOGITECH SOFTWARE. IT WILL MALFUNCTION. Of course, if you use the Windows drivers, you'll need to configure the controller in the game's setup screen yourself, because the Profiler won't be there to help you. All in all, this is a great pad for anybody, but if you want rumble, get the Logitech Rumblepad instead, which is the same thing, except it adds rumble in the handles.
Poor, poor, poor, 2006-11-07 I had one of these a couple years ago. It worked very well for a few months. Then, all of a sudden, the left analog stick became non-responsive. It wouldn't work on any game I tried. After reading other reviews on the gamepad, I figured I just got one that was poorly made and that the analog stick problem I had was just one of those several ones that was bad. Since it was only $20, I just left it alone. Well...after going months without a gamepad, I decided to get another Logitech gamepad, the same one I had, and guess what. After literally ONE DAY, the right analog stick stuck and is completely unresponsive. So, as far as I'm concerned...they're all terrible controllers. PERIOD.
The joystick that you need, 2006-11-03 It works wonderfully with all types of games, Specially sport games. You will not miss a single move action because of your joystick... I highly recommended it...
Works for me, 2006-10-27 I've had this controller for over a year now, and it still works great and reliably as ever. After many months, the analog sticks occasionally drifted a little, but a quick jiggle and they'd be back to center.
The profiler software is excellent, allowing you to fully map the controller to your keyboard and even mouse. This allows you to play any game with the controller, even ones which don't naturally support gamepads like Splinter Cell. With the "shift" profile function, you can effectively double the number of buttons which I found great for playing a complicated flight sim like X-Wing Alliance, completely keyboard free, using only the gamepad.
Only downside: The D-pad is hard to control precisely. It's difficult to press only Up, Down, Left or Right. You almost always end up pressing a diagonal direction instead. This made the D-pad more or less unusable for games like Street Fighter, but then the analog stick was a perfect alternative anyway.
Will not install., 2006-05-26 I got this for lego racers. I was having A LOT of problems. My dad was trying as hard as he could. We couldn't find a driver. The logitech website was not helpful, either. It shouldn't be this hard to install, but it is.
