Myst Trilogy is great value, 2007-01-06 The 10th Aniversary DVD edition of Myst-Riven-Exile is a great value. We've had no problems loading the games onto our computer (which runs on Windows XP Home). My son and I have enjoyed playing Myst and have moved on to Riven.

Excellent Packageing of an Old Classic, 2006-11-15 MYST is certainly a marvelously-engineered game, with near-seamless scrolling, careful attention to sounds and minor deviations in graphical terrain, and, for the most part, very logical puzzles. At its best, it is also highly immersive and addictive.
The game does require meticulous note-taking however, especially if you leave the game for a few weeks and come back (Literally - I have an entire journal devoted to the MYST series, with my own diagrams, sketches taken from various puzzles and books, etc.). And while nearly all of the puzzles make sense, or can be addressed through trial and error, there are a few which contain a logical gap, where even when all the parts are in place, the puzzle's solution just isn't quite graspable. There are in-game hints, which are nice if you're really in a bind, but using the game's hint database makes it hard to have that feeling of accomplishment, and should thus be used sparingly.
In addition, the game's format, namely a series of logic-driven puzzles, limits its replay factor. Yes, the graphics are exceptionally good for their time, and have weathered the ages well, but with all the puzzles done, there is little to do but wander through and enjoy the vistas.
Nevertheless, this series played flawlessly on a Mac running OS 10.2.8 and Classic. Upgrading to Tiger, however, makes gameplay for the non-OSX-native games, MYST and Riven, nearly impossible.

Myst 10th anniversary, 2006-11-10 The Riven DVD did not work on xp until I removed quicktime 7 and installed 6.3 and also set my pc to emulste windows 98. This took some time to figure out and is a common problem it seems. Myst and exile worked straight away.

A Deal Worth Getting, 2006-07-20 Before I begin, I must point out that this review is somewhat bias as I have a great love for adventure games. For those of you who don't play adventure games, do continue as it might provoke an interest. For those of you who love adventure games, why are you sitting on your tush and reading this? Get it already.
First off, Myst is an incredible storyline which takes you beyond any realm of imagination you may have explored. The first game, Myst, starts you off on island of Myst where you uncover a mystery concerning a very powerful family and books which serve as "links" to other worlds. (Personal Note: To get a better understanding of the Myst storyline, I suggest getting the Myst books). Myst, released back in the early 90s, helped propel adventure gaming with its puzles and breathtaking scenery. Riven, the sequel to Myst, picks up immediately after Myst and takes you on a journey to the world of Riven, a somewhat broken worldwhere you are to find Atrus's wife. This sequel introduces live footage into gameplay as well as an improved interface. Exile, the third game in this pack, breaks the adventure barrier by providing free movement and full interactive video into the gameplay. A stranger takes on of Atrus's greatest works and you follow the theif to a world that Atrus created to teach his sons about the linking books.
PROS: You cannot really argue against classic games, for these are the games that spawned and/or started some of the games we play today. The Miller brothers have outdone themselves in creaing a series that entices us ot look beyond our imagination and see what can be created. This is a DVD set which means the number of discs is reduced to 3.
CONS: The only complaint I might actually think other people will have is that the graphics are "out-of-date" with the current times. Once again, I must clearly state that the graphics, even after 10 years, are probably one of the most beautifully detailed I've ever seen.
