Recommend this over FSX, 2008-04-05 I purchased this after buying FSX and was unable to even install FSX on my computer. I had been using an older version of Flight Simulator so FS2004 was still an upgrade. I am so happy that I went with the 2004 version. First, it was quick and easy to install. I did not have any problems at all. Second, I was able to find lots of add-ins (scenery, airplanes, etc...) to make the experience even better. I have noticed a ton of improvements over earlier version and my 2 year old computer has not problem running the graphics.

Very relaxing game. UNTIL YOU CRASH AAAAAAHHH!!!!, 2008-03-31 Great way to spend a Saturday night (ok..I'm married...not a nerd..well...a little nerdy). I used to love to shoot things down and enjoy more arcade style action. Now in my old age...let me just ease forward on the throttle, bring the nose up, adjust the flaps...and look out the window. Looking forward to adding 2 more flat screens and track-ir for head tracking! Then I'll be really flying and my wife will still be rolling her eyes. Great game.
A toy for Flight Sim X, 2008-03-20 I was very disappointed with this add on for FSX. I guess if you are a 9 year old the missions might be fun, but as realistic flight situations, not so. The airplanes are very ho-hum and made worse by the fact they only have VC cockpits, with the attendant lousy lighting.
Save your cash, buy a good add on from Eaglesoft or PMDG.
Crashes, 2008-02-08 Product installed out of the box crashes and after initial run of Flying Lessons, closes program each time Flying Lessons is selected. Working with tech support provided a 3 step process to each time Flight Simulator is loaded. A Selective Startup IPL is required to run to eliminate ALL background programs. After running the game, a Normal Startup restart is required to return the computer to normal operation.
Microsoft should include these instructions up front in the installation instructions instead of leaving it to each purchaser to discover the system environment required to run the program. Once beyond this, great scenery, wide range of aircraft, and complete flying lessons as well as ground training on theory of flying.

What's Going On Here?, 2008-02-02 I bought this flight sim from Amazon, and I really like it, in fact, it is a marvel what such a small amount of money will buy. I've had a lot of time in military airplanes as a crew member, and I have 300 hrs as a private pilot in the C152, C172, C182's, C210, and P-Arrow. I stopped flying due to a lapsed medical, so I was looking for an outlet. I find the flight sim landings to be quite realistic. One good thing is you can replay each landing to review how you managed your airspeed, rate of descent, and flight attitude. At first I had some problems running the program on my computer, so I installed a better graphics card, and that helped. But, when I try to move from one program module to another the program just disappears, and it takes several tries and/or computer reboots to get going again--I can't figure this out. I intend to install more computer memory, but I really doubt that this is the problem. In short, this is a great flight sim for the money, but I wonder who can run it without these irritations? I will keep this going as I really don't know that there is anything that runs better.
