Be aware of the lack of support, 2004-10-28 The software was working great until I could not update or delete found viruses. I had few problems installing the software on my new computer. I contacted live support few times and they would rather communicate by e-mails. I found their support department lacking the knowledge and patience. I still can not install the software. Be aware of the limited hours for live support.

Good Product - Works well., 2004-04-21 This has kept my PC clean and free!!! It's caught several virus's coming in EMAIL attachments. Real-Time scan is quick and doesn't interfere with with ongoing work. I did have trouble when TREND Micro changed their scan engine at one point - they never notified me and I was unable to get pattern file updates until I went through a small procedure. It was no big deal but they should have notified me that they wer changing things. Also, the personal firewall stopped working (crashed) on NT 4.0.After disabling it, the system was back to normal. Overall, I think Trend Micro puts out a good product - better than all other other choices out there.

overall, a great antivirus program, 2003-12-15 I've tried norton systemworks and internet security 2003 not so long ago. I didn't have any troubles with it EXCEPT that it slows my computer down. Too much hard disk activity. I don't know but maybe most people don't have this problem with norton. I have an athlon 1900+ with 512mb 333mhz ddr.The slowdown really bothers me especially because i like to play games a lot so it requires that my computer be in top shape. When I used the trial version of pc-cillin, i didn't notice any slow down at all, unlike norton. I was satisfied. Updating was easy but so is norton's. About the virus detection? Well the manual scan scans fast and the real-time scanner caught viruses that were attached to files i was downloading in kazaa. It caught the virus even though the file it was attached to was still being downloaded. When I was using norton, I didn't have any viruses for a long time. But I think that's when you should be at least concerned: when your antivirus doesn't seem to be detecting viruses for a while. Maybe you really don't have viruses at all but then again maybe your virus scanner isn't doing its job. PC-Cillin detected viruses and thats how I know it works. A little personal downside of PC-Cillin is that I used to have some tiny joke programs that flips the screen upside down, insults the user or even opens the cdrom tray. I didn't know they were viruses until I used pccillin(norton didn't detect these programs as viruses). I looked at pccillins virus encyclopedia online and found out that that my joke programs were actually viruses, although harmless. Too bad now I can't use these little programs anymore without actually disabling PC Cillin. I dont want to disable pccillin because then you'll be unsafe from viruses.I'd give this program 4.5 stars but it rounds off to 5. Damnit

Know what you're doing!, 2003-11-28 I bought PC-cillin 2003 largely based on the glowing reviews on this site. I had used Norton on Windows 2000 for almost 2 years but had recently upgraded to Windows XP and after reading the reviews of the latest Norton on this site I got scared off. PC-cillin was shipped very quickly. My initial installation on Windows XP had a problem with running Update and generated a cryptic error code. I couldn't find any documentation about this error code. I assumed that I had to reboot (is this true?) and after I rebooted I got the same error. However, magically the product then started to connect and update without any intervention!! So you can imagine how pleased I was to be up and running. Soon, however, when I used Windows Explorer to go to my downloads directory my machine froze with CPU at 99%. I killed Explorer and tried again - same thing! Well, since I knew it had to be PC-cillin because this had never happened before, I started to think about why this was happening. Then, while poking around in the configuration screens it occurred to me that my downloads directory contains a number of very large ZIP files. So I figured out that PC-cillin was opening up every ZIP file and then checking each file for viruses! So I used the configuration tools to disable checking of ZIP files and rebooted again. This worked! Now I am up and running and the product already caught 3 viruses trying to come in through Eudora mail. The lesson learned is you have to be persistent and understand the principals behind the virus checking. That way, if you get a severe problem you at least have a clue what to do.

Great program - trouble with rebate, 2003-11-26 This program is terrific. Works seamlessly. However, Amazon didn't include the all important PROOF-OF-PURCHASE seal in it's packaging. As such, I was rejected for the rebate until I called Trend-Micro. After finally talking with a very polite supervisor, he issued the rebate with no question.
