    Shoddy, 2008-05-29
I've had this product for around a year & kept it in pristine condition. But yesterday, without rhyme or reason, the display console stopped working. Completely dead. Nothing, absolutely nothing, was done to cause this malfunction.

Called customer service. If you're no longer under the one year warranty, it costs 1/3 of the price to get a replacement console. And note that, if the console fails, you basically have an expensive, ugly piece of trash on your hands.

Since this console failure isn't a rare event (do a search to collaborate this), I'd advise that you look elsewhere. Spend the extra money to buy a more reputable product, and save yourself the trouble.

    Decent for the Money, 2008-05-23
This is a decent elliptical machine for the money. I did a lot of research before I bought one, and this one seemed to have pretty positive feedback and the price was right, so I bought it. Luckily, I had a friend put it together for me, which wasn't a big production. It is a good workout and it's not noisy, either. Only one complaint thus far, and I've only used it several times so far, and that is that the heart rate monitor is way off. I use my own heart rate monitor which is much more accurate. But it's got a bunch of different programs to choose from as well as manaul and it's a workout -- which is what you're looking for, right!?

    Great while it lasted, 2008-05-20
I liked the smaller space saving size. It worked well for both me and my husband. But, as usual, it only lasted 3 years before it broke, just like the last one that I bought (different brand). I guess you get what you pay for when go for the lower priced equipment.

First one broke, replacement has now broken the same way, 2008-05-02
I take Amazon ratings into account when deciding to make a big purchase. After seeing a 4.5 star rating I felt pretty confident with this purchase.

The first one I received broke after 2 months of occasional usage by my wife and I. (Both moderately fit). I went through the hassle of disassembling the first one and sending it back. Got the second one in the mail and it broke the same way within 3 weeks.

I got the impression from Eclipse that this is a fairly common issue. The customer service rep knew exactly what I was talking about when I said "The linkage below the foot platform has come loose". Apparently there is no way to fix it and it requires a replacement by mail every time.

Eclipse is happy to send me a third replacement machine. Fortunately Amazon has decided to offer me a refund as an alternative.

If you buy this, keep the box because you'll probably have to send it back!

    Amazon - good
    Eclipse - bad

    Worth every penny!!!, 2008-03-19
I purchased this elliptical 3 weeks ago after reading 100s of reviews. It was deliverd to my house within 6 days, with the free shipping. I couldn't be happier. It took about 30 minutes to put together. There were a few problems with the screws not lining up with the holes but a couple pounds with the hammer and they went in fine. My partner and I have used it everyday since it was delivered and we are already starting to feel better about ourselves. Our goal isn't necessarily to lose weight but to get in shape and this elliptical, combined with strength training we get from the Total Gym 1700, will help this process along. It does creak a little bit but I haven't made any attempts to see if it needs to be adjusted because it doesn't bother me. Besides that it is a quiet and smooth workout that will help anyone get back in shape. The preprogrammed workouts are very useful and effective. The heartrate monitor is not accurate whatsoever; after 30 minutes of intense workout, it said my heartrate was 75, although my heart felt as though it was going to pound out of my chest.
If you are looking for an effective workout that you can do at home, i highly recommend this. I have paid for gym memberships for the past 4 years and seen little results because I never went. But to have the machi
