greatest game in the univers, 2004-02-25
This game is the greatest tombraider game of all the time !!! The graphics are wonderful and also the story is . It can be a litle blt buggy but who cares . Bugs make this game more interesting !!!! If you cant play without unlimited ammo , use a cheat . It is not that hard you know .

not for a middle of the road pc......, 2004-02-21
i tried playing this game on a pc slightly above minimum requirements and i would have been generous if i have given it even 2 stars..all the previous complaints and bad reviews are justified HOWEVER on a powerful p4 based machine with plenty of ram(keep it 512 or up) a hot graphics card(ati radeon 9800pro) made the game come to life-great graphics and i didnt have to much of a problem guideing lara around and i'm really only a novice player-i did miss that slide sideways action lara had in the older games and didnt really like the default controller assignment(i reconfigured it)i had a good time playing it overall though-just remember DO NOT BUY THIS GAME TO USE ON AN OLDER,SLOWER PC!!!

Do not purchase this game!, 2004-01-26
Let me give you some advice that will keep you from pulling your hair straight out of your scalp... stay away from this game. Don't take just my word for it... alot of folks here feel the same way. Do not listen to those that tell you that all this game needs is a killer machine to run. Believe me, I have a good machine and the controls are still awful! You get tired of yelling at Lara, telling here to get her butt up them stairs! People around you will think your nuts for screaming at the screen. Laura has never looked better, that is true. The graphics on this game are amazing. It's sure nice to look at, that is for sure. But, even if had a ghost of a chance of making Laura go were you wante her to go, you'd still have to deal with bugs, freezes, Laura walking on air, and attrocious angels. Do yourself a favor... stay away.

We love Lara, no matter what?, 2004-01-25
This game is essentially made just like the first game of a series to come would be(refering to the new GeForce technology). It needs refinements. Although the advantage for the makers is that Lara doesn't need to be sold. She's already loved worldwide. But yes, there are some weak points to it.
Nevertheless, it is still a very good game to play and own as you will be enchanted about the new and very "hot" Lara and by her new abilities. The storyline is good (not great, but good).
There is also a good dose of eeriness to it, which is what we want to some degree (some of us like to feel uneasy and alone when we play games, don't we?)
Flaw no.1: The second character (Kurtis Trent) which you get to play in a few levels is totally dissapointing in that; when he is featured in the "FMV's" of the game, he is portrayed as being very quick and witty, even more so than Lara. But when you get to actually play the character you find yourself being slower than a sloth and dummer than a cow (refering here to the battle with "Boaz" in which he has the "Shuriken Blade", but the makers won't allow you to use it until he's dying).
Flaw no.2: We could do without the much too many and "lame" conversations that take place between Lara and other people she meets throughout the game. I also like to think that Lara would be more refined and witty in her talks (just like Angelina Jolie is in the Tomb Raider movies).
Last flaw but not least: Buying a GeForce Graphic Card might not prove sufficient for a lot of would-be players. You might also have to buy more memory, some might even have to get a new processor altogether and so forth. But isn't that the price to pay for our incessant demands on getting more effects, more challenges and more sensations.

Tomb Raider : The Angel of Darkness, 2003-12-24
Tomb Raider Angel of Darkness is not as bad as they say but has got the be the weakest of all Lara Croft games. It is a good action adventure game but with big problems. The bad controls and odd camera angles are the major ones. The controls are quite different from the other games and will take some time to get used to. Lara has some new moves like punch and kick but they are useless because of the ugly controls. They do not cause much damage either. The AI is very bad. The enemies do not notice you when in stealth mode and it is better to use stealth than combat. The weapons are bad too, no pistols with unlimited ammo. The enemies also drop few ammo when killed. Lots of puzzles but easy compared to the others. We also get to play a new charecter Kurtis Trent in a couple of levels. Controls are the same but he is a total waste. There is not much about him, he has no story too. His boss level is the most frustrating level in the game. It will take you hours to get past and what happens after that is enough to drive you crazy. Graphics are far better. Lara is better detailed here. The story is quite good. Verner has been murdered and Lara has been framed for it and she is on the run, she must find out who did it and why. Except for two boss levels, the levels are well desinged. Tomb Raider VI is not a bad game, it is the controls and the camera angles that make it unplayable.
