Works great with attbi.com cable service, 2002-02-12 I purchased BEFCMU10 and activated it with att broadband service. It worked out of the box. It supports both ethernet and usb ports (the respective cables are included). I have mine hooked up to a linksys dsl/cable router directly. The linksys cable modem seems faster than the one i had leased from ATT.Note, the cable light on this modem does not stay lit. it will come on only when data is being transferred on the cable medium unlike my earlier modem. so keep this in mind. speeds supported by this modem are 42.88mbs downstream and 10.24mbs upstream. This is a DOCSIS 1.0/1/1 compliant modem says it right on box. Works great with attbi.com service.

Linksys Cable Modem (BEFCMU10) with Linksys Router (BEFSR41), 2002-02-09 I get my cable modem service through ATT broadband. I have my home networked using a Linksys router, which I consider to be an excellent product. I'd been monitoring the price of cable modems and when I saw the Linksys cable modem for less than $100 (with rebate), I decided to make the purchase and save $10 a month from ATT. The installation couldn't have been easier. I powered down the PC, removed the RCA CM and connected the new Linksys. I powered up, started my browser (IE) and was immediately redirected to an ATT website which asked me for my account number and registration number (last 9 numbers of the account number). I entered them and was forwarded to a page to register the Linksys CM's MAC address, which was automatically placed into the box. I clicked OK and, voila! Done! The next day I returned the leased RCA CM to my local ATT center and they (I hope) adjusted my monthly bill. ATT said they would pick up my CM but that carried a $49 charge.Prior to the purchase, I called the ATT support center. This proved to be an absolute waste of time. I was on hold for 20 minutes and then the rep was not very helpful. So I started a chat session with another ATT rep and got the exact information I needed. And it worked just as she said it would. And, I was immediately connected to a rep as opposed to the telephone call where I was placed on hold. My advice - skip the phone call - start a chat session instead. More advice - you CANNOT go wrong with Linksys!

quick and easy, 2002-02-04 I have ATT Broadband and after unpacking and setting up the modem, I called ATT and gave them the MAC address and it was up and running. So far, the modem works well and it will pay for itself with the lease fees I will save.

Excellent Cable Modem, 2002-02-03 I highly recommend this cable modem. I had been renting a 3comm modem from my cable company for $9 a month. I decided the price had come down low enough to justify buying my own modem. I provided the MAC address to the cable company in the morning, connected the Linksys cable modem in the afternoon, and it did it's job, just like you would expect. No problems at all. I have a Linksys 4 port router and have 3-4 computers on-line every night and we all surf happily. Thanks Linksys for the excellent products. And thanks Amazon.com for another pleasant buying experience.

Modem works great, super easy installation., 2002-02-01 If you are deciding to buy your cable model, save yourself about $100 by buying this modem rather than one from your cable provider. I had Cox Cable's cable modem setup for Windows 98 and Windows 2000 for about a month (before and after the downfall of excite.com) and it worked just fine. I bought this modem, turned my computer off, unhooked the old modem, plugged this one in, powered on my computer and it worked perfectly! I couldn't have asked for an easier transition. (Plus it works great with my router/hub - which happens to be linksys as well.)
