Linksys Cable Modem, 2007-12-28 This modem was easy to set up and works great with my home computer system.
GREAT replacement for INSIGHT!, 2007-11-29 I had a Webstar (POS) for 2 years and enjoyed my cable internet immensely, until it went out recently. I bought this Linksys cable modem and it works faster now than it ever did! Easy to set up, just called to confirm the MAC address and within seconds I was flying at top speed! Also looks nice and runs cooler than the old one! Thanks linksys for a great product! Getting download speeds of 9.56 Mbps, uploads of 856 Kbps with insightbb.
Linksys replacing old Toshiba PCX2000, 2007-11-13 Seems good so far without any crashes. It is replacing an older Toshiba PCX2000 that was constantly causing the Internet to go down whenever more than one person in the house was using it at once. Other reviewers have commented on the FAST upload and download speeds, but it doesn't seem that much quicker. The Toshiba would be extremely fast for a few minutes and then the it would lose its connection with the Internet. This one may be slow but at least it stays connected.
It is compatible with Cox Communications in Phoenix, AZ, and took only 10-15 minutes talking with a rep to get it connected. Having two routers on the same line was causing it not to connect with them initially.
Also it works just fine with Mac OS 10.4.10, and the Airport Express down the line, although there shouldn't be much of a worry that it wouldn't work with Mac OSX in the first place.
Also it seems everyone is asking $60+ for this modem. I just picked mine up at Target on 11-13-07 for 49.99 +tax. So far so good, hopefully it doesn't go down the drain within the month like other reviewers have stated. ;)
good product, 2007-11-13 works great so far. believe it is the highest sold cable modem out there and has lived true to its name.
Works but poorly supported on comcast, 2007-10-25 It turn out I didn't need to buy this device. The cable connection to my entire neighborhood was messed up. It took Comcast months to figure it out. I think maybe the hint was when there were 3 comcast repair vans simultaneously responding to different service calls in my ~40 house cul de sac.
Regardless, the modem works perfectly well. Obviously, my internet connection is better now but I can't tell if it is the fixed cable service or the modem.
Regardless, I wish I'd gone with qwest DSL instead of buying this cable modem. Comcast customer support is very spotty and some of them just force you to go through a mindless checklist and then blame the cable modem because they can't connect to it. They do this even when you tell them that you can read the signal levels from the modem diagnostic page.
