This game is for KIDS who love knights, horses, Ships, castles and most Importantly, WAR!
I recommend this game for Strategy war tycoon LOVERS!

Great Game, 2005-12-04
This is a fantastic game. The gold edition combines the original game with the add on expansion. One of the best RTS games. This is historically based, so if you want elves, orcs and other mythical creatures go and try Warcraft or Age of Mythology. Age 2 keeps the feel of the first game, but adds a few new layers and updates the graphics nicely. In short, if you love the original Age, you will love this one. If you haven't picked up the original, go grab a copy of the Gold edition, the game is still fantastic.

You will never grow out of this game..., 2005-10-24
I started playing age of empires 7 yrs ago...then moved on to AOE 2 when it came out around 4-5 yrs ago...also bought the expansion shortly after it came out too.
This game combines strategic planning and battleship...there are so many variables so you won't get bored playing this, especially if you play on the internet against other people. The graphic is pretty good too, considering it came out years ago. Just a few days ago AOE 3 has came out, it has even better graphic but with smaller number of civ available, plus there aren't many people playing it online yet. I still think AOE 2 is the best game, it's not too complex but not to simple and never same.

 great game, 2005-09-20
Age of Empires II is much better than the first version. You don't have to check up on workers as much and the outlines shown for people behind buildings is a big help. The missions are slightly easier then the first edition and are much more fun to play as they incoporate much more of the history of each civilizaiton.
