    If You Don't Read Wired, You Just Don't Get It, 2001-10-30
    Wired is the a must read every month to understand business, technology, and the technology of business. Wired and Fast Company are the staples of new business periodicals. Amazon has a pretty good deal with the rate. The only problem I ever had with Wired was their incredibly high "off the shelf" price.

    Required reading for the internet generation, 2001-10-29
    You know you have arrived as a publication when you've been spoofed on The Simpsons. Want to learn about the FBIs Carnivore, the hottest new PDA or get a sneak peek at the future of technolgy? Then Wired is the place to go.

    Wired has set the standard for internet related publications and has even helped give voice to several important internet political organizations including the Electronic Frontier Foundation. Of course you can read Wired online, but there is just something about a real magazine with all the slick glossy ads. Very user friendly.

    Bulky, eye-catching ads, but not much content, 2001-10-29
    Wired always seems to have a pulse on what's happening in the "New Economy". However, I found most of the articles to be long-winded and not too insightful. The magazine has a hip image, great cutting edge ads, but I'd prefer Red Herring anyday. It seems like a lot to pay for a magazine that has so many ads.

    technology for technophiles, 2001-10-28
    I've subscribed to Wired Magazine for several years, though I confess that that I don't read every issue from cover to cover. This is a magazine best suited to Silicon Valley technophiles. There are a lot of ads for the latest gadgets, and the short articles about these new technologies appeal to more avid gadget collectors than me.

    So why have I not cancelled my subscription? I keep reading Wired because of the feature articles. They are well researched, thoughtful, and clever; they often cover an aspect of the business or culture of technology that other magazines miss. I can still remember some of the best articles -- an article about why FedEx is really a high tech company, an article about how fiber optic cable is laid and what that means for the economics of broadband, an article about how the European Commission's Competition Bureau is shaping the global technology business through its regulatory authority.

    If you are a technophile, you s!hould subscribe if you don't already. But even if you're not, you should consider it if you work in the tech sector or have an interest in how technology affects all of our lives.

    Will make your head hurt, in a good way, 2001-10-26
    Even if you think you're at the high end of your realm of the tech world, there is always much to be learned from this magazine. The blend of typical hardware/software tech with biotech, space, physics, and other sciences, always out on the bleeding edge of current thinking. Combined with the pop sections on new gadgets ("Fetishes"), humor, and lifestyle angles, this is a fun way to keep up on "technology" as Wired broadly defines it. Omni meets Red Herring.
