I love the school zone products. The K/1 math CD was perfect to help me test what my son really can do independently. The graphics are fun and very kid friendly. They are designed in a way to really illustrate the concepts being taught. The companion workbook is a supports the game really well, and it's also a great time to work with your child on newly learned concepts.

This program might work for a child who is getting ready for kindergarten, but it is not up to par for a child who is entering first grade. I bought it for my 6 year old to use as a review between kindergarten and first grade. She completed the entire program in one sitting; I'd guess it took her less than 1/2 hour. It is NOT kindergarten level by any means. My young 4 year old was able to complete it without much effort, so even with a child a year away from starting kindergarten it was a waste of money.

Easy to follow directions and still gets the point across!, 2003-06-04
I bought this program for my son when he was in kindergarten. It helped him to recognize the numbers and to associate them with amounts and so forth. The directions are not complicated and very easy to follow. It is set up like several workbook pages. If they get the problem right then they get a big star. If not, they get a big red check mark but are able to re-do the question and get a big star so they don't feel so bad. It is basic, so if you want something more complicated then this is not it. This program is great if they have had little exposure to numbers . My child did not expereince any frustration when operating this program. He asks to play it and it keeps him busy. He also has a good hold on his numbers now (which is great!)
