Maybe for a VERY experienced gamer, but not for me!, 2003-09-27
I had trouble moving around, it kept crashing, it crashed my iMac several times, I couldn't see anything in the dark, finally I just threw it in the trash and counted it a lesson learned. Very disappointing!

A huge waste of money, 2002-08-24
A really poorly executed game in a boring environment. The dialog is especially bad and you will soon be tempted to turn off all the sound. It often crashed. When it was running it ran so jerky and disconnected it lost all play value. A real disappointment. Do not waste your money with this game.

Sin-- a boring game from a tired genre, 2002-03-19
It runs choppy, even on my G3. Uses the Quake engine, but it still feels old-scool like Duke Nuke 'Em. Been there, done that. Why bother?

A Mixed Bag of Goodies, 2001-10-14
I probably gave this one more star than I should have to offset the other rating. SiN is a game I have mixed feelings about, but overall it can be fun. Based on the Quake 2 engine, it does not have the polished look of something like Team Arena, UT, or Alice. However, the game makes the best use of its technology, and it runs well on slower machines. As opposed to many other FPSs, SiN has an intriguing storyline with mostly believable characters. The controls are exactly what you would expect from a modern FPS, although opening doors can be a bit tricky if you don't reassign that command. Gameplay is fast and well-paced, and the secondary objectives of each mission add an extra element of challenge. For example, there are many elements in which there are civilians about, and you, as a cop, must avoid killing them while pursuing the enemy. Also, environments are well constructed and offer a variety. Weapons are well balanced, and enemy AI isn't too bad. I have not taken advantage of SiN's multiplayer componant, so I cannot comment on that.
    Pros:
    Good action and pacing.
    Variety of environments.
Have to use your brain to get out of some situations.
    Good story and characters.
Runs well on iMac caliber machines.

    Cons:
    Unnecessary adult content (sex, swearing)
    Aging graphics engine.
    Some unintuitive controls.
Again, the sexual elements and the swearing bother me (the title does too), but your attitude may differ towards these elements. Therefore, depending on your tastes, SiN offers a mixed bag of good and bad qualities which do tend to cater toward hard-core gamers more than casual gamers.

    Not for first-time FPS gamers :-(, 2001-10-10
Having bought and loved the anime film Sin: The Movie, I thought I would buy the game and experience how the movie came to be. However, I very rarely play first-person shooters (Doom II and Marathon Infinity being the only real exceptions), and I find the controls for Sin to be far too complex for an FPS novice such as myself. Unfortunately, the training mode did not provide much help.
