An adventure game with sensible and interesting puzzles, 2002-04-02
Typically I am not sure what everyone feels the need to write a review, even when they have only played a demo. I guess the most foolish make themselves known. Frankly Project Eden is a quality title, with less of a tomb raider feel than you would expect (Core made both games). If you are a true adventure gamer, this should be the game for you. All team members are useful, since they all have strengths you must utilize continuously in order to progress. The game has an console feel to it, and though the controls are solid it may be take a bit of getting used to for those new to the adventure genre. I would recommend this game to adventure players and anyone trying to get into the genre. This title surely will not dissapoint, in terms of gameplay. Priced reasonably, this is one you should not miss.

    Bland, Cliche, Poor Gameplay, 2001-12-29
Project Eden promised a mouthful. Core Design, of the Tomb Raider fame, had the potential to make a new, amazing game with a solid basis for gameplay, story, and graphics. Yet in an industry recently filled with flukes, Project Eden can only be thrown in the pile.

Eden is essentially a boring game. The story is incredibly cliche, and in which I thought it could have thrived on its premise, Core Design fail to create anything spectacular with its four main characters. The setting of a futuristic utopia reaching the heaven is another feature which has been re-hashed innumerable times. Ultimately, while Core Design may have had something fresh, we only received a canned story.

Graphics is another touchy subject for the linear 3D-accelerated game. Project Eden uses a good array of colors to keep the eyes pleased, but still the visuals accumulate to anything above average.

Project Eden's gameplay has been attempted before but has ultimately shown no glory. Players control four characters in the United Protection Agency (UPA). Each character has their own attributes and depend on each other to accomplish the level. Yet, Core Design creates several bad gameplay systems in the combat, interface, and level design sections to really achieve mediocrity. Combat is sketchy, especially since players have unlimited lives and the friendly artificial intelligence is measly. Navigating through the interface is frustrating, since it requires the mouse pointer to be directly on letters instead of in the general vicinity (you'll notice when you play this game). And level design is trippy, where I even had to resort to cheating to pass through a part since Core Design failed to give me any more power. (I never cheat in games, only when it is imperative to use to advance.)

Nonetheless, Core Design makes Project Eden into nothing special. The story is cliche, where it develops into a predictable plot that is more funny than dramatic. I would not recommend this game to anyone who wishes to have a good time. I only gave it two stars because I believe Core Design had a worthy basis for a game, but did not execute it well.

    Enjoyable, 2001-10-29
For clarification I am not big on puzzle games. I actually found this game frustrating at times and a bit complicated. But after going over possible solutions for up to an hour at a time it was fun when I finally solved them. Now remember what I said about not being big on puzzle games because I will probable have to buy the manual because I am stuck at a certain point in the game. So if you are good at or enjoy puzzles this is the game for you.

The other two reviews are reviews of a demo only!, 2001-10-29
Since these other reviews are based on old demos only I decided to add a few stars to balance out the over all rating. If someone *actually* plays the game itself then please bash it but lets not trash a game's ratings before then.
