work around for too few network cables, 2008-03-09
    Linksys EZXS55W EtherFast 10/100 5-Port Workgroup Switch

There are virtually no instructions for this switch. So I just guessed on how to use it and it works perfectly:

EZXS55W linksys work group switch in building #1:
port 1: wildblue satellite modem WAN
    port 2: desktop computer
uplink port: 100-ft cable to building #2 (too far for wireless to work)
    WRT300N linksys wireless router
WAN port: cable from building #1
    router port 1: desktop computer
    wireless 'g': laptop & visitors

All desktop, laptop and visiting computers now have access to satellite internet and only one cable was needed for the reach between buildings. So I am happy with my purchase.

    Works Great, 2008-03-06
Product works great. Its simply plug and play. I hooked all 4 computers to the router. took 10 mins.

It does what a switch is supposed to do., 2008-01-18
I received this switch as a gift. To get it to work all I had to do was plug it in to my router and to a power outlet. There was no configuration necessary. I've had it for about a month now and like the title says "It does what a switch is supposed to do." I'm currently using two of the ports and both items that are plugged in have been working fine. For the price you can't really go wrong.

product OK, Linksys tech support absolutely sucks, 2008-01-09
I like the product but had a question that was not answered by the documentation. I went to the Linksys web page and engaged their tech support via chat. The person at the other end, "Randy W." was rude and obnoxious. I then tried to email a complaint to support@ but it bounced with a message that tech support is no longer available via email. They need to re-engage email and bounce Randy out the door.

Watch Out for Tech Support Costs!!!, 2008-01-05
They had free support until just very recently. My beef is with the EXTREME cost of support, 3.99 a minute. ( I don't know if that includes listening for many minutes to bad music.) You can get 3 months support for $199, 6 months for $299 or 1 year for $499!!! I can tell you I spent many hours talking to tech support before this recent change of events. I have had my Linksys router for 3 years. I also had to get a bridge to extend the range because it couldn't go through walls very well. I had to call them a lot because sometimes the bridge or router somehow lost the address. You will need tech support now and again when you change ISPs, go elsewhere.
