    The best tomb raider!, 2008-03-12
Tomb Raider II was the first computer game I ever played. This was back in 1996. Since then, I've played all the TR's (except Anniversay). To date, this game has to be my favorite. Sure, the graphics have gotten better with time but the graphics on TR II are still beautiful and more than that, the game play has never been the since! There is a wonderful simplicity to this game that I love - it's not fancy on Lara's moves/accessories but despite that the game is fun and scary at times. I loaned someone my TRII disk and the guy broke the disk. I haven't tried TRII Gold but if it's anything like the original TRII it's worth every penny.

For anyone who cant get it to work on XP, 2003-07-09
Hello. I have played the demo for this game and it seems fun exept for the controls. The graphics are great. Anyway, for anyone who cant get the sound to work, read on. About a month ago I bought Half Life for the PC, and it had a problem with XP. All I did was find Half Life's icon, right clicked it and clicked properties, clicked compatibility and changed it to Windows 98 mode and pressed okay. Since then, Half Life has been working fine. If it worked with other games with XP problems, it may work for tomb raider.

    Good game fun, 2002-09-14
Somebody here said they could not get the sound to work on this game. For me, Tomb Raider 1's sound would not play on my Windows XP. But Tomb Raider 2 and up work fine for me. As for the game, it's a major graphical improvement from Tomb Raider 1. The graphics are much smoother than more detail and movement went into creating the environments and Lara. Lara now has a swinging ponytail and drops of water fall off her after she goes swimming. Other than that it's pretty much the same game as TR1. You run, jump, shoot and flip switches. If you're a fan of the first game you'll be a fan of this one. TR2 still has the control problem of TR1 though. Mainly in jumping. I've found that holding down the jump button a half a second before you press the direction you want to go works best. It's not the responsive control system I'd hope for. But it's not as bad as other games.

Graphics: 4.5 They're a lot better looking on the PC than Playstation.

Sound: 4.0 The music is pretty good and Lara's grunts can be nicely heard.

Control: 3.5 If only Lara would jump when I tell her to.

Fun Factor: 4.5 The levels are done so well that searching for the next switch to flip never gets boring.

    Beware XP users, 2002-07-19
This is no doubt a great game, one of the best ever but it has a number of problems running on Windows XP. For me, the music would not play.

An Excellent Game that Beats the Original - Plus New Levels!, 2002-06-17
From the Great Wall of China to the canals of Venice, Tomb Raider II is the rare case in which a sequel is better than an original. In fact, I find this game to be my favorite of the series. In it the legendary Lara Croft sets out to find the Dagger of Xion. In her quest she navigates the globe, and even takes a couple of trips to strange and magical new worlds.

Tomb Raider II offers significant improvements over the original, and its game play exceeds the other games that follow in the series. The game has drastically overhauled weapons and artificial intelligence. Though the puzzles are not as hard as later versions, they still are quite difficult. Lara has new moves, many new weapons, and more dangerous foes. What more could a Tomb Raider fan - or even the casual gamer - ask for? And as a bonus, this version has extra levels. I found them to be as much fun as the actually game, if not more so. However, they added very little to the plot.

I highly recommend this game, whether you are an avid Tomb Raider fan or somebody new to the series. I don't believe you will be disappointed - in fact, you will probably find many hours of action filled entertainment. And if you do enjoy it, I strongly recommend other games in this series.
