Wanted: More films like this one. , 2006-03-25 One of the many reasons we love movies is how they make us feel, how they make us react. "Dave", a wonderful Ivan Reitman political confection is one of those rare movies we watch over and over again to get that warm fuzzy we all need from time to time. Kevin Kline shines as the President's sweet natured slightly goofy stand in after the The Chief Executive suffers a major stroke while boffing an aide. The rest of the supporting cast also turn in exceptional performances as does the film score music which frames the film beautifully. The relationships between Dave and the First Lady as well as Dave and the head Secret Service man at the White House are especially touching. I absolutely love this movie. You will too.
no title, 2006-02-19 Wonderful-feeling movie. The same tone as "Groundhog Day". Immensely enjoyable - Kevin Kline was just right.

Nice and interesting, 2006-01-15 It's a nice 'chick flick'. I like the way it plays out and I like the actors. It's worth owning.
James Newton Howard's Music is a "stand-alone", 2005-12-18 This original movie score is one the composer's best. Even if you haven't seen the movie (which you should, by all means), the music is delightful all on its own. The "Dave" theme is gently interwoven and proves to be the thread that ties it all together in a beautiful package. An absolute pleasure to listen to.

Hopelessly politically naive...but a lot of fun, 2005-11-20 This movie reminds me of another film called "Gabriel Over The White House", in which a president is injured in a car crash and changes as a result from a corrupt politician to the savior of the nation. The political vision of that film holds that the causes of violence, war and corruption in the world are basically some corrupt politicians, the mob, and spineless world leaders. Likewise, this movie reduces the political powers that constrain a president's autonomy to a couple of white house handlers. For example, President Dave initiates a bill that will give a job to every person who wants one, and which his successor pushes through Congress. Absent are the military-industrial complex and the multinational corporations who hold most of the real political power in the world, and who would certainly have some objections to a full employment bill. Anyone who still believes that the president has any significant power to act on his personal political ideals is naive.
That said, this movie is a lot of fun to watch. Very enjoyable fantasy.
