 A personal relationship with God, 2008-08-09
This has been the BEST book I have read in a long, long time. I recommend giving this to people that do not have a personal relationship with God. I think this is a comfortable unthreatening way of letting a person experience who God, Jesus, and the Holy Spririt is/are. When I give this to someone to read I tell them it is a fictional book--that seems to be less threatening than to tell them this book is about who God/Jesus is. What insight and clarity William Young had to have had to write such a clear picture of who God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit is, and why bad things that happen to people is not God's fault. I would recommend this to every one that is unclear of who Jesus is and how he is the central point to the Christian faith. Thank you Mr. Young for your great insight in writing a fictional story that can truly inpact a person's personal realationship with the Creator.

Absolutely Amazing Book!!, 2008-08-09
This is THE most amazing book I have ever read....talk about tying up "loose ends" I had about God!! Paul Young has written a book that will become a classic. It was when I questioned certain discussions Mack has with Papa being "scriptually sound", Paul Young then takes you on a journey that leads you to understand why it IS based on God's word. If I had enough money I would buy 10 cases of this book and send them to everyone I know or come across on a daily basis. It has opened my heart to what an incredible loving Father in Heaven we have; who truly does love his children - no matter what. Take a weekend and read this book - it will flip you on your head and bless your life without measure.

if you've never read a book, start with this one., 2008-08-09
The Shack (Special Hardcover Edition)
I am not a book reader. When I started reading The Shack, I could not put it down untill I finished. My view of God has changed from night to day. My perception of God used to be very in the box. Until some years ago, God was in a box, then a sort of alteration occured in me, and now that I've read The Shack, the box has been obliterated. I am not a book reviewer, nor do I claim to have any qualifications to review books.
Please read this book. It does not matter what your views on religion, God, or whatever ideas you may have that have given you a limited view of who or what God is, but I'm sure this will change you in some shape of form... ...FOREVER.

It's all about relationship, 2008-08-09
I have just finished reading The Shack by William P. Young. May God give me the words to say to express how this book has impacted me. As I read this book, I laughed (out loud), I cried, I reflected and I received revelation. A deeper revelation and understanding of God, of Jesus and of The Holy Spirit. As one of my sisters in Christ put it "your religion will be blown out of the water (in a good way)." I truly believe this book to be inspired by God. He wants us to know Him, in His fullness, as intimately as He knows us. He knows our every thought. He knows every hair on our heads (or lack of - whichever the case may be). This isn't just a book that I've read - it's a life changing look at God's truth through His heart. I borrowed this book from a friend, but I bought my own copy today. I want to read it again and I want to share it with my children and others. I believe that when I read the Bible that I will "see" things more clearly. I believe that lives are being changed and God will use different means to see that happens. He uses His Word, His Truth, his children, music, books and yes, even movies. There is talk that The Shack will be made into a movie. I say, YES, Lord, let it be!
So there - my two cents. I hope you are intrigued, but more than that, I pray that you are drawn to ALL God has given you; ALL that Jesus has provided for you; and ALL that The Holy Spirit shares with you. Remember as Papa (God in the book) says of His children, "I'm especially fond of him/her". You ARE blessed and highly favored! This book is about relationship - relationship with God, Jesus and The Holy Spirit. Let God speak to your heart.

Backlash is Amusing (and proving THE SHACK's point!), 2008-08-08
I have to say I find all the backlash for "The Shack" to be kind of hilarious because it is PROVING this book's point! Only those whose need for the religion of Christianity is more important than their need for relationship with Jesus will feel so intensely threatened by a God who is big enough to be a true Mystery!
Theology-Shmeology. Jesus wasn't a theologian! The Pharasees were! And guess what the Bible says about the Pharasees...(I'm sure you know)
I would challenge EVERY PERSON who is against this book to seriously ask themselves when was the last time in their lives that they felt the presence of the Holy Spirit? When was the last time that God asked you to do something that didn't make any sense to you? When was the last time you were utterly vulnerable in friendship with someone? When was the last time God touched your life in a way that made you personally grateful?
When we live in the spirit, these are things that happen on a daily basis.. maybe not every single day, but they are common occurrences. When you're living in freedom, you don't worry about theology and rules. LET GOD BE GOD!! He's fun and mysterious and passionate and moving! God is bigger than our box and Relationship is THE MOST IMPORTANT thing to the heart of God.
Believing in Jesus without theology is scary and requires actual faith and community and vulnerability, but the victory is worth every terrifying moment! Believing in the Jesus of religion is not knowing God. It's knowing ABOUT Him, but not knowing Him. And that is a dead life indeed.
