Better than you'd think., 2008-01-02
This game came out around the time Total War did. So, it didn't get the ratings. Everybody knows how good (and more expensive..) Total War is, so rather than compare it with TW, I'll mention just the well dones and need improvements here: 1. Awesome, but simple, map of Europe. 2. Not an overwhelming number of units (attrition rate is clear cut - one man is one man) 3. Battles are super (except AI tends to charge and not outflank) 4. The research tree is way cool (but takes too many turns, esp. at the beginning, where the game moves slowly) 5. 5 countries to build into empires (should unlock countries taken over, but no problem really since you can use their troops) 6. Game is modable, but good luck figuring out directions (in Spanish). This game would have been a huge success if the game had enlisted the RTS community to create mod maps for it, esp. in English. For the price a great game for real time strategists.
